Too hot in the house today, so I decided to spend the afternoon sitting under the trees reading my copy of the Shahnameh. I could do better things with what daylight I have, I suppose, but I could also do worse.

Many years ago I said to an older fellow that I was sad on the first day of summer because the days would be getting shorter.
He responded with a gleam in his eye, “No, the nights are getting longer.”

Given my nocturnal tendencies, I can certainly understand that. :)

Lots of daylight+dry weather is good for home repair, though.
 
Coldest morning in eleven years this week. Brrrr. Glad of our heater and affectionate cats.
 
I heard they celebrate Solstice in Sweden with public nudity and frolicking. I plan to visit there sometime if I can. :D
