All those nights at midnight that I've spent out in the clearing, sending welcome messages . . .
surely they're listening . . . time will tell . . .

I'm much more basic in my outreach communications . . .

Years ago I started by playing "Where are you Little Star" on the portable turntable ("How I wonder where you are . . . High above the clouds somewhere". . . then moved on to "Are You Out There?" ("I am calling, can you hear this? . . . I was out here listening all the time". I soon realized that our music was not the proper vehicle to use.

So I switched to morse code using a high beam flashlight: "Hello, contact me. We are friendly" . . . but I couldn't find the needed long-life batteries to keep that up.

Over time I honed my ESP capabilites, so now its just me and the dog sending out welcome messages. I am still hopeful that my efforts will be rewarded.

And I am coming to realize that, like many of the early sci-fi movies infer, our civilization is still just too primitive and violent for us to be welcomed into the mix of the other forms of life in the universe.

I've seen one or two movies where the remake beat the original, but on the whole they are just awful.

Why must they ruin them. Why?!
