The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Yep it’s odd, I was in tears when I took the keys to this place. On our own, 60 feet above the river. Land around is owned by two farmers so I get the benefit without the obligations. No chance of development in this area either!

We are in the process of buying up the carved-out lots adjoining us. Piece at a time. That way, at least we control what happens on them. We were hopeful to buy the piece downhill from us, but a flakey couple bought it a couple of years ago. She got rid of him - and we had a few issues - and got a new Him, and now they're dumping money into the place. We put up a new more substantial fence between us last week. At least the quality of work there is improving.

Ideally, I'd like to live at the center of a 3 mile circle.

All you can do is your job to the best of your ability…..then you have a clear conscience. If they don’t like it, talk about you behind your back or don’t give due credit……walk when you can. If you have experience and are good at your job you will always be marketable…don’t undersell yourself. Above all don’t beat yourself about the actions of others!
.
Hun don't let it bring you down. A lot of people that are incompetent or on knowledgeable have to bring better people down to their level to make themselves feel better. It's all self-serving. Someone who knows what they're doing and is competent or above competent brings the others up to their level. But with their attitudes and their incompetence I don't think you could ever lift them to your level. And the reason it affects you is because you're well aware of their shortcomings as well as yours and you know that you're working on yours and their way of working on there is is to bring you down to their level. Don't let them do it sometimes you just have to have faith in yourself whether your supervisor or coworkers or peers don't say it. Great big hug and squeeze!

Morning trying to figure out my day. I got told the other day by a co worker that they told the new person on our team that I was "ok at my job" and on the same level as him, but the real "scholar" of the group was our other coworker.....the one that announces out loud that she is a slow learner ..she has a masters degree and that she doesn't understand what people mean when asked a question about our work.....so I am working on being ok today between the meetings that none of them are even invited to, doing work that they don't know how to do, or the multiple assignment cards that are only assigned to me...... not whining but what fucking nerve
Ugh. People suck. Sometimes coworkers suck even more.

Sorry your dealing w that bullshit!

IMO, development is the biggest enemy to my area.

I know the rule is no politics, but in my opinion, there is no “ housing crisis.” What there really is, it’s just people who don’t wanna live where they are and want to move to rural areas.

Stay outta my rural area you damn kids! 😂

I missed this earlier. That's a damned shame. I, too, have had some of these same "issues" with the knuckleheads I have worked with in the past. In fact, I was reading back through some things yesterday where a co-worker had told some lies which made everything that much harder to deal with. And your ol' buddy Wat usually got to go around and clean up the shit left behind.

Some people are alive simply because it's illegal to kill them

Yeah.... I dont really care what they think...just keep it to yourself. Don't set me up with the new person. Because everything they said was false. I try to stay above it/take the high road but damn that hit me wrong.

Thanks hug and a squeeze back. Yeah they have been riding my coattails for a long time. My boss told me I was her right hand today. She is a great manager. She depends on me.... the new lady will be great just has to get up to speed and stay away from lazy dumb asses...I could tell lots of stories....

If I had 2.3 million i would but the 114 acres behind me and put a house smack dab in the center.....with a big fence and plant the rest with clover ...feeds bees and doesn't need mowed

Good almost afternoon! Mondays move fast in the cafe and at my work. 😥 Hard to catch up... but here's where I'm at today...

You're getting "The Look" now, G! 😅🤣😂
I know that look... *scampers away before The Look catches me*
Told someone else today, "Mondays should whimper!"
Now if we all work together...
A great day ahead.
Yes!!
Happy Monday!!! Wat is working in his shooping list to get some food in here this week. We're gonna take another whack at the s'ghetti sauce. Ethyl is sitting on the floor by my feet.
Anytime someone says "take a whack at" my brain immediately goes to here:
Is that the biker version of:
Difficult avoid houses in the distance if you live in the UK unless you live up a mountain. I take what I have. I worked a lifetime for it and its my piece of heaven!
Agree - heaven!!
Morning trying to figure out my day.
🤗 There's been discussion since I read this...lots of good feedback. But more 🤗 🤗 are needed today b/c that sitch sucks majorly!!!
Dont be pulled in to others people bs
Yes, Yes, Yes!!! This, right here!
#1 has been my most difficult challenge
I think humans as a general rule find #1 challenging.
Knowing that and wanting to make change is the key.
We could all use more reminders and support with our work on #1.
#1: Staying present in the moment

Our medical professionals in this thread are an encyclopedia of knowledge! I learned more about this subject in two sentences than years of talking to docs!
I agree - aren't we so lucky to have them in the café?
Glad you like the pics, and here’s today’s installment.
HDH - I  your daily zen images. Thank you for each one.
It’s taken me some time to learn to set boundaries but I did after my late wife’s death. I know drama and avoid it as my number one boundary.
I've been accused of being a Drama Queen...
(wait for it)
For not feeding into the family drama machine 🤷‍♀️ :ROFLMAO:
I know the drunk version May the road not hit you in the face. And May the wind coming at your back be blowing away from your ass. Something like that.
Drunk - Irish
Potato - Potahto
;)
Yeah...people like to suck u in...I have another one.....dont allow yourself to be someone else's emotional crash test dummy
Yep - this is a good list. Another excellent addition.
There's even theme music:
Smell is amazing
 the smell of cut grass... but it doesn't love me back (achoo!)

don’t undersell yourself. Above all don’t beat yourself about the actions of others!
Such good advice!
Ideally, I'd like to live at the center of a 3 mile circle.
Wouldn't we all?
Let's write a How-To book about this. I love your takes.
I'd buy it - let me know when it comes out!
Don't let them do it sometimes you just have to have faith in yourself whether your supervisor or coworkers or peers don't say it. Great big hug and squeeze!
More great advice!!

People suck.
Indeed - not all. But sometimes the 10% Rule feels so 90%

Liars gonna lie - I've experienced this, too.
Please everyone, stay out of jail/prison. I'd prefer visiting you in the café to the alternative!
My boss told me I was her right hand today. She is a great manager.
See? Right here - validation!!!
If I had 2.3 million i would but the 114 acres behind me
Would that I could, too! Now if only those lottery tickets would cooperate.
I stay professional and it is good I am not a manager because I don't play and f your feelings... this is the job.... do it...
I feel the same. Also, supervising feels too much like Babysitting (Grown Ass) Adults - at least where I work. I do not have the patience for that flavor of Bull Cookie!
Aside: I've also been accused of having High Standards (like that's a bad thing?!?)

I'm sure to be behind again... but that's on brand for a Monday.

I think we could be a good bit more than 114 acres in south-central KY for $2.3M, but that's the thought. That in clover would feed a lotta pasture poodles - they love clover.

Yeah.... clover is great... a couple horses..not to ride but to live out their old age in comfort and peace ....

Which is what the landlady's old boys do. I think it depends on the horse. Her brown one is the flake and it's just not suitable to try to ride him. The red one was a former stadium jumper who has recovered from a couple of injuries, and he's probably best left alone so he doesn't reinjure something.

Calypso was a retired three-event horse, and I think he would have been good with a brisk walk with a rider he liked.
