I agree with your assessment. I think the socks and being more active (and maybe a touch dehydrated) conspired to make smaller ankles-n-feet. I think that many things have more than one cause and/or solution.

It's true. They do. If you're dehydrated, your body will do it's best to hold on to water. Storing it in the tissues of your feet and lower legs is one way.

TDK lives here with Ethyl. Since they are both torties, I tell them that they are mother and daughter even though they aren't. Ethyl is the boss cat of the house. She was glad to see us. TDK tied into Panther, her wrestling buddy, about 30 minutes after making sure all was well here.

In the last several months, Ethyl has developed a bird-like quality to her purring. It's an interesting characteristics. I'm not sure how to describe it. But if she's content, we bleed less.
