The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

It's good to connect. I'm close with my brother and sister but we don't see each other often. We're spread out all over the country.

We live less than 15 miles from one another. There's no excuse. Well, I could do some blaming, but that's no good, so I won't. At least if/when I move out of state, I'll leave a forwarding address.

Yeah I get the reticence about giving out antibiotics—viral infections won’t be affected by them. I know my body and very early on I could tell that it was more than a viral infection (I had a bacterial infection a few years ago with very similar symptoms) but trying to convince them was nigh on impossible, until I showed up in twice as bad shape as when it started. I’m just glad it didn’t morph into pneumonia (it was a sinus and bronchial infection).

I have friends and family in the medical field and they told me to keep advocating.

I have to say also that growing up I played doctor, a lot, so I am kind of a medical expert 😛.

But seriously all is well and my energy level is back to normal. There seems to be a nasty strain going around, probably due to this up and down weather.

All this reading about lasagna recipes has given me quite an appetite!

Ever since my daughter was little we watched American funniest videos on Sunday night.

It’s always good for immature humor - which is right in my wheelhouse.

Tonight was a classic episode and like most Sunday nights I am on the couch, laughing so hard I cannot breathe.

This is old but one of my favorite montages.

The reason antibiotics are withheld is because they are completely ineffective for viral infections. You probably had a bacterial infection on top of the viral infection. It happens when your body is weakened from the virus, bacteria then invade.

Overuse of antibiotics has lead to increasing strains of antibiotic resistant bacteria. They will cause our extinction.

Glad you're better. Still, be nice to yourself. Take it easy for a while! 🤗🤗
Back to antibiotics for a bit (I have a strong nerd streak), I recall listening to a science podcast where the melting permafrost was discussed, and there were some fears that dormant, frozen bacteria might cause new diseases. The flip side to that was that scientist also think that new strains of antibiotics might also be found in the soil, strains that we don’t have resistance to, and would be effective against many strains of bacteria.

I just found it very interesting.

I remember watching those way back when Bob Sagat (sp?) was the host. It really was a nice way to unwind.

While I know I would see my sibs more if we lived closer, I also know I wouldn't see them every week. Families are complicated...

It's always good to be an advocate for yourself! I do the same for myself and my family.

Sinus infections are just brutal!

We have been all about pasta here lately! I might need to make a lasagne! 😋

Oh now you’re teasing! I’d do things I might not be proud of later for some good lasagna (and chocolate, but that’s a different topic) 😛

Hilarious! I love AFV! 😂😂

I'm kinda nerdy myself! I've read of the fears that frozen bacteria will cause new disease. Scientists will likely find new antibiotics also. However, the bacteria will have a head start.

Happy Sunday!!! Cup #1 is done and #2 is coming up. Making the list for grocery shooping (like Lisa Douglas would say.) Rain is on its way, and it ain't gettin' very warm here today.

So it looks like my s'ghetti sauce isn't quite so lame but might could use some different ingredients. Maybe I'm being too hard on it. Maybe I should cook some today since it's chillier.
