I am doing just that, thanks! I go to the gym twice a week, a 45 minute trip each way. I also learned the hars way. My car wasn't driven for about 6 weeks last year. It needed a new battery; I tried to charge the OKs one but it wouldn't hold a charge. I had to have it towed from my house to the dealership for the battery. None of the battery places around here would install one as it's a hybrid.![]()
Car batteries any more are fer $hit. Same for motorcycles. There are some good ones out there. The battery on my bikes have both crapped out. I had The Guy change the one on the little bike when it was in. He didn't tell me what brand he uses, but I haven't trickle-charged it at all and it doesn't miss a beat, and the bike sits for 2-3 weeks sometimes.
Also, if you're not driving your car very far each year, get the oil changed regardless. Condensation. THat's a by-product of combustion and water can and will collect in your crankcase. Odds are, on your 45 minute trip, the oil gets hot enough to boil out any water. But like on my old car where it does get driven and it runs at a cooler temperature than modern cars (ethanol-based anti-freeze settings), it's best to get the water out of the system.
