Day 14: An a cappella song

Sometimes, you get obsessed with a band. It verges on the unhinged. You listen to everything they've made, you stalk them on instagram, you go to their live shows, you try to score backstage passes. I've done all that, and more. It's been a while, though.

A decade-and-change ago I ran into a band called Walk Off The Earth. They'd gone viral over night (you know, that 5 people playing 1 guitar video) and it sent me down a deep, deep rabbit hole. I became, as you might have guessed, obsessed. Over the next few years I'd met the band, gotten a signed Ukulele, and travelled to 4 different countries to catch their shows. It got costly.

Then, in what felt like an overnight thing, I just lost interest. I don't know exactly when, or why, but I didn't default to their playlist on Spotify, and I stopped catching all their latest videos. That was probably healthy for me.

But every now and then, I go back to those old videos.
They're still great. I just have a healthier reaction to them.
And damn, if they aren't one of the coolest a capella bands around.

I left mine at home.

Day 14: An a cappella song

Well, it took today's prompt for me to realize what a cappella literally means 😳 I've been attempting to learn Italian for long enough that I should've caught that sooner 🤦🏻‍♀️ I spent some time thinking about my choice, but you can't go wrong with a folk song (or Hozier, obvi).

Day 14: An a cappella song

I'd share every song from acapellascience if I could (but I won't). The level of talent this takes to break down some pretty deep concepts into accessible language that match the lyrical structure of a song and then perform it to this calibre.... #chefskiss
