Anyone from the UK?

I hate rail strikes with a firey passion.

What are they even striking for? And why Mondays? Grrr.
We went to London last year to see Billy Joel in Hyde Park.
Pre booked train tickets return.
Found out that the service to Cardiff was cancelled from 2pm on the Saturday because of strike action

On the subject of rail strikes:
  • it’s about pay and conditions
  • pay for rail workers has gone up by less than inflation repeatedly
  • The Conservative Government has cut more than half a billion of capex (capital expenditure) funding from the railway industry in a three year period
  • This puts huge strains on the industry’s ability to maintain the existing railway, never mind the Opex (operational expenditure) they’ve also cut for renewals and enhancements on the railway
The rail industry is the third biggest employer in the UK and gets a disproportionate amount of public abuse relative to the perceived high salaries of train drivers (which are almost always reported incorrectly between high speed and TfL drivers).

So in short, what Wanderlust said, up the workers. ✊
