The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I'm a hard stick. Only way I know to "help" is to pre-load with fluids barring restrictions. Had some labs on Friday. So thankful they agreed to do the urine sample first. Accident averted. Got it on the second try!

Gen X here. I use a lot of similes at work. Several will soon put me in the exact same position or be obsolete themselves.

No kids, but auntie to a horde of niblings. Breakfast conversation during my last vacation to visit a brother and his family.
SIL: Hurry up, you'll miss the school bus
Me: *International hand gesture for 'look at the time' as I point to my bare wrist* Yeah, tick-tock, buddy
Buddy: 🤯😃 *looks at me* *head whips around to look at their mom*
SIL: Not that kind of TikTok, buddy
This is how Auntie learned that something called TikTok existed in the world.
And many video clips were shared. Lo and Auntie was both astounded and mildly regretful (after what felt like the 80-bazzillionth video about candy and challenges)
That's exactly why i appreciate conversation with people with the same background generationally. Otherwise I'm have no clue what they are talking about.

Has anyone here ever had burns from a fire?

I was burned in a factory fire back in 1982 (28% of my body) and had very little pain
even though I was in a burn unit of St. Agnes Hospital (Philadelphia)[
Oh my. I've been burnt superficially. I had a nephew severely burnt. A miserable sad hard recovery. I'm glad your pain was bearable. He was a small kid at the time and gadfry i didn't even like to remember it.

I had 2nd degree & a small area of 3rd degree. I had nightmares for awhile. From my knees to my shoulder on my left side, but what's important didn't get harmed

I feel your pain, girl! I can stick just about anyone as I learned with preemies. But try to stick me? My veins say, "Nah," and dive! 😅😅 When I got labwork a few weeks ago, the phlebotomist, who is excellent, had to stick me 3 times. The two of us were scoping out veins... 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

*Puts panties on head* Hey, it's cold and rainy here - just minimizing heat loss. ;)

Fair warning: I am very much not versed in cars.
That said - I learned to drive stick shift on a 1985 Ford Mustang. It was gray with a reddish interior and had a pop-moonroof. (My brother supplied the year, interior and moonroof - I had forgotten about the moonroof). My dad nicknamed all our cars. This was "The Mouse". It went through more oil than gas by the time we sold it.

Dad took me to the factory where he worked on a weekend. Showed me the classic H and how to get into reverse. Gave me the RPMs for when to shift up. He then directed me around the huge, empty parking lot until he thought I had the basics. I dropped him at the doors and he went inside.

"Drive around until you're comfortable - don't forget to practice reverse. Come find me if you get into trouble. Try not to drop the transmission."

That was an awesome day and a wonderful memory. I loved that car. I miss that car - but not the oil issue.
That's a lovely memory! My parents only drove sticks and insisted we all learn.

The first car I bought by myself was a Mustang. I rocked up to the dealership in tight white jeans and a red and white striped tube top (70s 🙄) asking for a stick shift. The salesman asked, "Do you even know how to drive a stick, little girl?" I very sweetly asked him if he would give me lessons... then proceeded to scare the crap out of him on the test drive. I learned to drive in Italy. So Cal drivers have nothing on Italians! 🤣🤣🤣

Was a beautiful day in NJ today. For the first time in three weeks, it got over 60. It’s been a cool and wet spring.

I was kinda needing a nice day and got it.

My wife had a landscaping show this morning which was fun. So a nice early morning.

Then back to the farm where we bucked the logs (cut the logs to length) and split firewood. I am so fascinated by wood grain. Sometimes it’s so unbelievably beautiful.

Black walnut, two red oaks and ash.

Damage from emerald ash borers - they have killed 48 million ash trees in Nj alone. More red oak.

Productive day topped off by Americas funniest home videos. (I know, I am immature).

Back to work my day job tomrrow- I have to work in NYC on Tuesday… 😢
Beautiful wood! Do you ever make furniture? Some of your wood would make gorgeous live edge pieces.

Cool car! 😍
This will be a sweet ride when you're done. What color do you plan to paint it?

The first one will get redone. The second one is just a donor. It's hard to see, but the floors are severely rotted out in it. For that particular body style, there was a lot of rot that occurred at the front base of the front door (the A pillar). That poor car probably has sat outside all of my adult life and maybe longer, and it shows. This is the school of Take Three and Make One Good One.

Pain is dependent on the depth of the burn. A 3rd° burn destroys nerve endings so you would not have pain there. More than pain, the real issue for burn victims is infection and fluid management. Those people who work burn units are angels on earth. It is REALLY hard work, both physically and emotionally.

How are you managing now?

I understand that. My uncle used to restore classic cars. His yard looked like a junkyard! He did the same thing, robbing from some to get one beauty.

Because you can't run down to Auto Zone and get parts for it/them. That said, you might be surprised at what is still available.

I have a really good sedan which will be coughing up its engine and left front fender for my big coupe project, as well as some other tidbits, maybe. The sedan body, like the gray car, has a lot of rot, too. The floors in the coupe are excellent.

Good morning early risers, afternoon, or evening for international over 50 folks. Cloudy forecast for the solar eclipse. Its also my granddaughter’s second birthday. I made an eclipse box so she could safely view the eclipse and bought her toy she covets of her older brother - now no more sibling fighting?

Oh Eclipse Day. I forgot that. Enjoy 1) the eclipse and 2) the end of the world preppers crawling back out of their caves and unpacking their tinned food when the sun reappears.
