Anyone have any thoughts on work anniversaries?

Had the quarterly meeting at work and they recognize those with anniversaries falling within 1st quarter - which is nice - however they include # of years and rank by such. UGH!
Thankfully, there are those with more seniority so I am not at the top of the list. I am told at least once a week by 20, 30 somethings they want to do what I do. I truly enjoy mentoring but not those who are thinking I have one foot in the grave :rolleyes:...is it different for a man??

Sitting on interview panels I used to cringe if a candidate was asked' 'what do you see yourself doing in 20 years time?' And he/She would reply 'your job' or words to that effect

I had the interview question, "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?"

My reply? "Retired." I was!

At my company does every 5 years. I got my anniversary gift. It was a sticker for my badge........ I am remote

About 2 years into my career as an accountant, I had an opportunity to interview for a job that would have been a huge step up. It was a controller position with a major division of Fortune 500 company. A full day of interviews with the division CFO, CMO, COO and others. I was asked by several interviewers where I saw myself in 10 years. I was 24 years old and had no clue. I tried masking my uncertainty about long term goals with vague answers.

A couple days later, the recruiter called to tell me I didn’t get the job. The interview team got together, compared notes, and determined I had no clear career goals. I was crushed, but they were right and they made the right call by rejecting me. My heart wasn’t in finance and accounting.

Shortly after that happened, I was given an opportunity to move into sales with the company I was with. Changed the trajectory of my career and my life and I wouldn’t change a thing.

I am not sure if it’s different. Probably.

I dunno if I look on my work tenure as “well seasoned”, “over the hill” or “just let me stay employed till I can retire on my terms.”
