I had a moderator kick back a poem of mine. They did not say why and I’m at a loss for why it may have been kicked back? I’m afraid to post it here for running afoul of whatever I ran afoul of the first time?

If I don’t know what it was kicked back for, how do I know what to fix?

Thanks in advance for any help with this matter!

did you message the mod to ask?
No, I didn’t see a place for a specific mod. It had a link to volunteer mods to help shepherd you, and links to the guidelines, which I went back over.

Why wouldn’t they just say it was rejected because of; A, B, or C?

I’ll go back and look to see if it was a particular mod though. Thanks Helgamite.

OK…so I went back and pored over the poem….I just couldn’t figure out why it was rejected? Was it due to a relgious reference (the devil)? Was it the title? Maybe used before?

After a bit I noticed the body for the text said “Story” 🤣. I had posted the poem in the story section by mistake…not sure how, but I think I figured it out. Let’s see if it makes it through…fingers crossed!

That's probably it. If you submitted it as a story it probably got rejected because it's too short to fit that category.

I remember once, years ago, a poem was rejected because it was apparently too long to fit the definition of a poem according to Literotica. And it was clearly a poem, written in stanzas with a specific rhyme scheme. But the total number of words got it rejected from the poetry category. However the poet resubmitted it and made a convincing argument to count it as a poem. It was especially important in that instance cause it was being submitted as a poetry contest entry. So yeah sometimes it's just the word count.

Thanks Angeline! That’s exactly what happened, it was posted as a story. Totally slipped past me, and I was able to resubmit with one problem. I had to rename the poem!

I had submitted two, one was rejected and the other was still in the pipeline. I pulled it and resubmitted but when I did, it said “ you already have a “story” titled XYz…

No biggie, renamed to keep the theme and lesson learned.

So I screwed the pooch again…🙄

Submitted a poem, but I put “this was a true story” in the tag…that of course isn’t allowed so it was rejected. I went back in and took the offending remark out. Resubmitted. It was rejected again?

There was a blurb stating it had to be edited or if it was edited it will go back to Draft folder, then resubmit.

There were also little red asterisks beside the title/body/and tag. Seems the last time I messed something up, I had to change the title but not the body?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Maybe someone here can help. I can't: as I mentioned this forum and submissions/publishing are two totally separate parts of the site.

I think your best bet is to raise this question on the Editor's Forum. There are people there who help with this sort of thing. I hope you stick around this forum to write, but you have a better chance of figuring out how to get your poem accepted with a Literotica editor's help. 🌹

As per Angeline’s advice and barring finding an editor interested in ‘editing’ poetry, —DM me. I am always up for reading poetry. Just not if it has gore in it. I’m not into blood or murder type of thing. So if you want send the Red asterisk version. Let’s see if we can figure this out. But whatever you do, if you DM me, let the poem red ink and all speak for itself.

Best of luck.

ps, this side of the site is better to post. Your poems may not be liked but! That’s not why we write right. ‘We’ as in I write to be read by; and read other poets. 😉 And, to ‘explore’ and extend the range of my poetic voice.

Thanks so much Angeline and 42Below! I appreciate the help!

I got around this last time by just changing the title of the poem…I don’t think I even changed the body. I tried editing out the tag (which is what got me in trouble!) and that didn’t work the second submission. I may just scrap the whole project and post it here. BTW, It’s in the non-erotic side of the house in the poetry area. Nothing gory. It is a true story and that’s how I ran afoul of the mods.

I do like the suggestion of just posting in this forum. As you say, we’re not in it for the glory, and these are all very personal and cathartic for me.

I really appreciate both of you for reaching out and the input!

PS…PM on the way 42Below!

Well, good news. I just checked and the quick edit I made worked I guess…

The poem was published. Thanks for all the help, and I’m really considering just putting some of this on this Forum instead of the Story/Poem room…
