TikTok clock ticking...

Recently Taylor Swift and some other artists music was no longer allowed on TikTok...these people lost their minds as if there was no other place they could get music from those artists.

Nuke the site completely, and we're looking at an event that could trigger Darwinism.

People-and not just young people-are addicted to this thing.

You Deplorables reference the Liberals of TikTok account constantly on here.

You're going to lose your minds when you don't have that resource to tell you what to post / how to think every day. 😘

Isn't TikTok a Chinese data mining site? I thought this was established a few years ago. I avoid it so I don't know..

Tiktok's parent is called Douyin, or 抖音 in Chinese(meaning Trembling Sound, roughly translated), which offers tons of short videos of every kind to all the people in China and other parts of the world where people like or know the Chinese language. It has the largest followers of all social media so far, if you find a video interesting somewhere else, the blogger must have posted the same on Tiktok or Douyin earlier.

But, I am proud and happy to inform you, my dear friends, I haven't installed the app on my phone or computer yet, I do not like it to influence my life the way I do not want. But I did visit the official website of it to have a browse from time to time. That Tiktok CEO guy who was questioned harshly in the American Congress looks like a Chinese, but he actually is a Singaporean, and if you have any grievance or complaints, you should fuck Singapore, LOL.

The committee vote was 50-0. TikTok did themselves no favors by pulling a stunt that pushed users to flood the phone lines of members of Congress. Apparently this came just after lawmakers received a classified briefing by the NSC. The bill is backed by the WH and a floor vote is expected the happen next week.

It’s amazing how fast this has started moving and what the the Senate does (if it passes the House which seems likely) is anyone’s guess. I’ll be interested to see where Oracle stands on this one. All of TikTok US data is stored in the Oracle Cloud. A change in ownership could put that deal at risk.

Tiktok is blocked from my work phone and I'm nowhere near the security implications of a US senator or Congressperson. The app (as I understand) scrapes data from elsewhere on your device e.g. cookies & history and uses that to suggest clips. It also sends that data to somewhere where Beijing can access it.

Anyone who accesses the internet with the app installed should expect that China can see everything that they are doing. Any other presumption is crazy and dangerous. Anyone want to buy some snake-oil or a golf course in Scotland? I have plenty for sale.
