Morning, are you ever in bed?Morning
I'm in bed right now. Just can't get back to sleep.Morning, are you ever in bed?
Good to hear. I train a pup every two years so I can work a team of three or four. None of mine are out on a shoot until at least two. They are too immature before then and can’t cope mentally with the pressure of big commercial days and it would ruin them. My oldest has just retired at 11 as he is now deaf.Beautiful!!
I'm hoping to get my 8 month old out in the fields and trained up soon. He's so bright and intelligent. Real soft mouth, great recall. We've been working on whistle training him recently.
It's just about getting him used to the bangs and being around other dogs. The one thing I struggle with at the moment is him getting too excited with other dogs around and not listening to me.Good to hear. Mine has great recall but won't let me collar him. It can take two hours . He thinks it's a game, snatches treats from my hand and he's off. Any ideas How to fix him?Beautiful!!

Too young and immature. I don’t start on shot training until 12 months when the ears are fully developed either. It's just about getting him used to the bangs and being around other dogs. Uhm, probably the wrong person to ask as this one is my first pup. We've had collars for him since he was tiny just to get him used to them. Now he will sit and wait for it...Mine has great recall but won't let me collar him. It can take two hours . He thinks it's a game, snatches treats from my hand and he's off. we have a while til the next shooting season, I didnt think about ear development, I'll probably wait then.. thanks! Been so careful with every other aspect as to not over exercise him etc but didn't think about his ears!Too young and immature. As I have a pack socialising is not an issue
Ask away we all start the journey sometime. Mine have a collar as pups just to get them used to something around the neck and easier when we move to a lead. Then they are on slip leads if on a lead at all. I generally don’t use leads as my dogs are under control without them per the pics. No shame inUhm, probably the wrong person to ask as this one is my first pup. We've had collars for him since he was tiny just to get him used to them. Now he will sit and wait for it...
I am just super cautious with gun shot and I have never had a problem others start earlier but why risk it?we have a while til the next shooting season, I didnt think about ear development, I'll probably wait then.. thanks! I own a pub and he loves live music, which can get quite loud - but I guess guns are different

What motivates him? Does he have a favourite toy or something you can get him used to playing with as a precursor to getting on his lead?He thinks it's a game. Very frustrating
Don't think soI've just ignored my first person. Can they see my posts still?
