Jan Akkerman. A dutch guitarist and one of the greatest ever. He was a pioneer and evolved many old jazz techniques into what we know today, like slide picking, without which we wouldn'y have heavy metal solos.

Thijs van Leer. A dutch cokehead, and occasional singer, and one of the highest ever. Seriously, just look at him. Fuck, I love him so much.

Focus played prog in the truest sence, forgoing classic song structures and even lyrics, opting instead for yodeling and scatting.

This is what music is to me. Pure feelings.

As with yesterday, the same for today... your song choices are inspired and your explanations are truly enlightening!
I like this pattern! Thank you for sharing this with us.

Day 19: A song from the 70s

If you're like me, and the words are the most important element of music to you (among many essential components), then you've got to luv the inimitable genius of Gil Scott-Heron. Terrifyingly beautiful poetry!

Gil Scott-Heron - ... And Then He Wrote Meditations

Oh my lord, this moved me. I've isolated myself in a room at work with my AKG headphones and I'm just sitting here, vibing.

"Come, hell is past for you" said the wind
And the rhythms of heaven absorbed him.

Just beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing this.

Wow... thank you for this reaction! I luv Gil Scott-Heron's poetry, and if I can spread the gospel in any way, I'm honoured.
Those words you picked out feel especially poignant to me (at least in a way), but are even more beautiful. Genius!

Seems that a pair of boobs as good as yours works better than a carrot #lovesong

70s

This is a very special, clip, Richard Pryor..then at one of the most significant events the Rev Jesse Jackson does his intro.. feel the love..feel..shaft

One of the best songs ever! And I mean that.

When I was a little kid, at stafford motor speedway they would play this is the cars took the field for the modified stock car feature.

It would be blaring as the announcer would list off the drivers, their position, car# and hometown.

And then the green flagโ€ฆ Such great memories!
