Drive ins bring back memories. As most drive ins were going out of style, there was one that only opened Saturday night for families and we took the kids with us. They would fall asleep in the car and we enjoy a movie without babysitting. Now you can get a big screen TV and do this at home.

We have a drive in that actually is still open in the town next door!!!!

Drive ins bring back memories. As most drive ins were going out of style, there was one that only opened Saturday night for families and we took the kids with us. They would fall asleep in the car and we enjoy a movie without babysitting. Now you can get a big screen TV and do this at home.

I’m not into going to indoor movie theaters, so that’s the experience I’ve traded in for the theater room in my house. The drive-in is a completely different animal, in my mind. We’d always make an event of it. The primary drive-in we went to allowed dogs, so we’d set up in the bed of my truck with the dog and chairs and blankets. Before the movie, we’d play catch or walk the dog around the place. There’s also a really cool candy shop right around the corner that we’d hit on the way in. For anyone in the Chicagoland area reading this, I’m talking about the McHenry Outdoor Theater. So many great memories at that place. There’s another drive-in in the area that has an all-night horror movie festival every September. That was always an annual event for me and my son. The drive-in scene is one of the many things I miss about the Chicagoland area.

Wow, drive ins sure bring back great memories, both as a kid, teenager, and into my early 20's. When I was a kid in junior school, it was a Friday night tradition, Mom, Dad, and us three kids, and sometimes the dog too. It often got pretty chaotic, and my dad would vow it was the last time, but he'd always soften up come next Friday night. The Sea Breeze drive in, in Cape Town was our closest and therefore regular place.

Consider keeping it! The guitars I played in high school and college mostly collected dust after career, marriage and kids took priority. After I retired I started playing again and love it.

....mine is a Violin. In a decade it will mostly likely be considered a relic...

I have a polypropylene Helly-Hansen zip-up turtleneck base layer I bought at least 35 years ago and still wear a couple of times a year under my cycling jersey.

This is polypropylene from the days when if you put it in the dryer it became doll clothing. I think I kept it the first 10 years because it was so freaking expensive at the time, after that I started wearing it “one-more-time” and now we’re just old friends.

Anyone else have something you just can’t seem to part with?

Gorgeous, beautiful, leather, and a few soft suede high heeled boots

Never see them in my workplace anymore...styles are so casual.

My plans are walk the mall this morning with friends, then lunch with friends I have known since college days. I cherish those friends. I never know how long they will be here. Horrible reality I guess. Sorry if this was a downer.

Not a downer at all, in my opinion. There’s a lot to be said for living in the moment and appreciating the moment at the same time. If I had a Flux Capacitor and a DeLorean, it’s one of those things that 53 year old me would tell 20 year old me to do.

No. Someone was coming over to re-home a few of them.
Even if they fo get out its usually fairly easy to herd them back into where they got out.

We raise pretty easy going "heritage" breeds instead of commercial hog breeds. On one occasion we had three piglets that were escape artists. They would always go back into the pen for feeding. The fun part was that they would take over the basket the farm cats slept in. When I'd go out on the porch in the morning, the piglets would be asleep in the basket stacked up like cord wood.

Our youngest caught strep throat and derailed our weekend getaway. Turning into lemonade with us cooking up a bunch of food and watching movies naked on the couch.

I quote myself, what a ego.

I was a seasonal Ocean Lifeguard that required year round training but I was paid for it. I went through paramedic training, USCG Small Boat Handler class, rappelling and stretcher rigging for air evacuations.

Day-to-day was uneventful but exhausting; however, training made everything worth it.

I’ve had several instances where I thoroughly enjoyed what I had as a vocation, but there’s the necessary cost of living and existing. If that wasn’t a factor life might be more enjoyable.
