The wine is open and breathing now too.
l love our local wines from the Mosel Valley and the Baden region and can get a bottle for about 10 euros. Aldi and Lidl sell decent wines for around 6 euros a bottle. That sounds yummy
Curious…how much does a decent, but everyday bottle of wine cost in Germany these days?
I’m guessing pearls?Thank you
(My wife has the same necklace)
I would never cast such aspersions on daisy's boobs.I’m guessing pearls?
A German friend introduced me to the Baden wines. Isn’t that the bocksbeutel region?
I reckon Aldi and Lidl stock better value stuff than most supermarkets over here. Booths excepted.
Uh oh. She won’t like that at all!Casting pearls before swine.
is not an appropriate phrase in this particular case.
Thanks! Maybe we’ve got a new theme on here to supplement the bins.. wine bottle shapes ! On second thoughts… maybe notThe bocksbeutel is a round but flattish bottle typically used for wines grown in the Franken area of northern Bavaria. Baden is west of Bavaria
I love going to Aldi for wine![]()
While we’re on German cuisine, and everyone else is awol, what do you call the spiced lard stuff they serve with bread as an appetiser in the Heidelberg area? Crazily addictive!
It was a traditional hotel near Oestringen. Before you ordered they brought it with fresh breadI’m not sure.
They add finely chopped apple and onion to lard and season with salt and pepper and spread that on bread here.
Is that what you mean? I’ve never seen it as an appetizer though.

That’s it! I remember now!Was it called Schmalzbrot? I used to eat it as a student to line my stomach before a night on the beer![]()
That’s it! I remember now!
When I was a student in Leeds, there was a pub that had free bread and dripping on the bar. Heavily salted of course to keep the ale flowing.
