I'm sure you're aware that during the pandemic, the major delay in the supply chain was the sourcing of semi conductors. Today, everything include the damn toaster has a chip in it.

I'm not sure about the dollars involved, if that is too much, or not enough. Nor do I care about the promoted reasons why. But returning offshore manufacturing of silicon chips is the right move.

Throwing money at the issue will not resolve it. Attempting to limit and tax production with a green initiative will destroy the industry. Climate control is not a solution if there were such a thing as global warming.
Conservation, responsible limits to pollution, actual recycling and stopping people from littering so much will protect earth. Like our borders we need to start with our own.
Chip manufacturing is Taiwan. We [obiden] cannot replace what the Chinese are being driven to take over. The only thing holding them back at this point is their plan will backfire worse than releasing covid. Replacing or recreating the industry will take a considerable amount of time. Saturating the issue with money will work as well as the 6 trillion the obiden regime released to created inflation. Likely will have some negative effect like the incredibly high prices created by the inflation. And with no way to claim they are fixing a problem they created in the first place.
The President of the United States is supposed to be a statesman promoting and protecting America. obiden if he does speak with a world leader tells stories and reads off paper someone else wrote. No one respects that.

There are some plants in the US now. TI never left. Semiconductors are made in several states in the southeast. But mostly memory or high speed storage. The chips we will not have access to if Taiwan production ceased are years from production. As you point out Taiwan and Malaysia are coming up short.

Honestly the good press of closing GITMO should be pretty big. The only reason they are there is because Bush rationalized that GITMO isn't in America and thus the Constittion does not apply.
