I have a recipe for pizza sauce like at giordanos... a little spicy... not a fan of sweet sauces
I don't like sweet sauces either. I make my own red sauce. I use the Costco pesto sauce when I make a pesto pizza. I use a jarred Alfredo sauce when I want that.

True story: A few years ago I was on my way home from a three week motorcycle ride throughout the southwest in the middle of August. It was late on a 100+ degree afternoon and in the sweltering heat, my throat was dry and parched.

I pulled into a dive bar in the little town of Needles, CA, just west of the AZ border. I had decided to call it a day and planned to have dinner and book a hotel room for the night after a cold beer.

I asked the bartender if there was a decent restaurant nearby that she could recommend. She asked me if I was in the mood for pizza and that sounded like a great idea. She cheerfully told me they make the best pizza in town. Perfect I thought. I ordered another beer and a pepperoni pizza. She assured me I’d love it.

The next thing I knew, she was popping a Digiorno frozen pizza in a small oven behind the bar. As it was cooking, she went on and on about how fantastic they were. She was totally sincere and I didn’t have the heart to disagree. I faked my anticipation and enthusiasm as she served it, ate the whole thing, and promised to spread the word to all my friends who might someday be passing through Needles. Truth be told, it wasn’t bad.
There is a special place in heaven for those who can pull off the little white lie…

I'm glad she's better! Has life returned to your regular chaos?
Yeah it’s always chaos… my one kid has soccer practice three times a week that we have to leave for an hour after he’s home from school, another has figure skating lessons twice a week (my wife takes them to), and then once a week they both have ice skating lessons. My 19 year old works nights and doesn’t understand he needs to eat more, he’s lost 30 lbs since he started this jib and he was already skinny. My 16 year old continues to be offended at 90% of what j say to her and is now having a huge mental breakdown over her best friend (who’s not really a good friend anyway), plus we are still trying to get them to take their driving test so they can use the car we bought them 8 months ago to get themself to technical college starting April 2, because they have to be there at 6 am, and I don’t want to drive them there. My wife? Oh, I could go on and on about her!

I seriously need a solo vacation just to relax!

Oh, wow! Props to you, my friend! I'm exhausted just reading this!

You indeed need a vacation. At least a weekend getaway by yourself to recharge your batteries.

Our 7 year old and 3 year old granddaughters do dance and gymnastics. The dance lessons are 5 days a week and we travel long distances to watch their recital competitions. My son and DIL not only juggle that with their full time jobs, they also have a 1 year old boy keeping them busy. In addition to the time factor, these activities are super expensive. Lessons are not cheap and the dance costumes are incredibly expensive. I now understand why they wanted my wife and I to move cross country to be close to them. Free babysitting and shuttle services, along with a fun house with a special cookie jar for the littles to visit and play, and a little financial help every now and then. They never ask for money but sometimes we chip in when we’re feeling flush.
It’s a lot! But as long as the kids are having fun we will keep with it!
