I do like being able to see again. Who knew?

I have been in offices where I can see that happening. I try and make my data come from the good nurse. I like the good nurse too. Most of the time you can tell because they look you in the eye. Or other times are looking busy and asking you different questions to see if they get the same answer. I always wonder when you have a good one. I've known my mom all my life. How does a nurse know all that in just the seconds she has during a visit? They know more than priests.

We're taught to observe. Use critical thinking skills. Analyze data on the fly. But it takes years to grow these skills. If you feel comfortable, if s/he is focused on you, if s/he is addressing your issue(s), then you likely have a good one.
 
About nurses, my late wife had the best cancer treatment and hospital nurses. We ssent them flowers as often as we could. I wish I could say the same about her oncologist.

They are..... nurses are the best and we are something..... we keep on going in there for the fight despite the obstacles..... I would nurses on my side---we make things happen and can take 2 paperclips a handkerchief, and a roll of tape and perform miracles
 
If one THINKS they are old, then yes, they ARE.

Attitude, also forgetting one's birthdate is key.

Also, get meaner and fuck peoples' questions!

Greetings from a fellow nurse. I've only just come across your thread. I'm the last twenty five years in the same adult ICU, Now a senior clinical nurse manager. Never went further than this as I love the contact with families and patients and the opportunity to work with younger nurses, passing on my knowledge and 'relax, don't panic' attitude.
Before this I worked for three years in paediatric ICU in the Middle East, a real eye opener as it was a referral hospital for the whole Middle East, so only the sickest of the sick or those with something weird and wonderful got in.
Even though ours is a different system and not so money driven, I think health care managers world wide are a special breed of horrible and useless.
I've enjoyed reading your post's and hope you keep them going x
 
At 61, I am beginning to think my midlife crisis got lost in the mail a couple of decades ago and was finally delivered two years ago. I certainly don’t think I’m at mid-life right now!! (Especially when I consider the death calculators put me kicking it at 76, while my dad passed at 68). Maybe this is why I am trying some new things, and really feeling dissatisfied with what my life has become (it’s really depressing when I think of all the things I used to love doing that have been completely eliminated from my life over the last 16 years, since we started being parents — I need Clarence the Angel, or maybe The Watcher, to show me what my life would be like now if i hadn’t changed my mind about not having kids).

At least I haven’t gotten rid of my minivan and replaced it with something ridiculous (not a sports car, though - I’m too tall for most of them — I want a 1966 Batmobile replica!).
