Day 23 A song from the 80’s

Man this prompt has been giving me anxiety all week! How do I chose? Theres too much! KROQ was playing in the background like 43.2% of the time I was alive in the 80’s!

So anyway I’m choosing this, because I was 12 and very deep and it says Parthenogenesis

And because years later it came up on shuffle on my son who was like 7 or 8 at the time piped up from the backseat “This sounds like my nightmares” wrecking me so thoroughly I’ve never played it in front of my children since.

I almost used this for my Fucking song last week. Judge away.

Day 23: A song from the 80s

This was my decade. Starting in the early 80s it was a mix of power pop, some punk, ska and metal. My sisters were good musical mentors for me.

The in 82 my sister and her boyfriend took me to my first punk show and EVERYTHING changed. Kraut and The Exploited. Hardcore all middle 80s into late 80s.

Then post hardcore, NYC thrash, and early grunge in the late 80s before I went into the army the first time in 89.

City Gardens in Trenton. All ages shows at VFW halls and roller rinks, CBGBs and Pyramid club in NYC, Pipeline innNewark, a few places in Philly.

So I’ll focus on the middle:

Naked Raygun - Home of the Brave saw then 5-6x but the first time was at the Catty Shack in west Catasaqua PA.

So cool! Marc Maron talks a lot about having “that person” at a formative time in your life. My older sisters are wonderful in many, many ways, but had/have crap taste in music. Thank God my best friend across the street had an even older sister who was very cool.

Day 23: A song from the 80s

There were some good songs in the 80’s, but to me the music changed in such a negative way, by the end of the decade I had completely stopped listening to any “current” radio stations and have never gone back. Sorry, just not a fan.

But I do like this from 1980…

The Kings - This Beat Goes On/Switchin' to Glide
