Both parties get only tepid support, apathy, or disgust from most of the nation because they can't imagine or offer anything better than the same old shit.

One side offers progress, which would be fine if we could have some. Quality of life in the US has been declining since before most of us were born. We have more homelessness, falling lifespans, lifetime debt, and young adults staying with their parents longer because they can't afford their own homes. To achieve that progress which gets farther away every payday, people must obey rules that are constantly changing. The poor must carry most of the burden, such as giving up cars, meat in their diets, gas home heating, etc., so the wealthy can keep their jet travel vacations, mansions, and luxury yachts.

The other side demands obedience to older rules that change less, with a payoff of Armageddon, the end of the fucking world. They learned to stop putting a specific year on Armageddon after it kept not happening in all the previous years when it was confidently predicted. There is a matching amount of hypocrisy, usually involving sex and its consequences.

What eventually kicks them both to the curb won't come from any established or respectable source. Imagining and communicating something different from the status quo is the job of the fringes, the scorned and disreputable people who have nothing to lose in voicing dissent or anything outside the Overton window.

If you think this whole topic is BS, you can ignore everything above and vote on who sang it best: Joni Mitchell, Neil Diamond, anyone else on youtube, yourself if you have the pipes, etc.

Could someone please revive blogs, so that we don't have to be subjected to this tedium in the PB?

kthx! 😘

If you still think there are really two parties, you need to do some more thinking.

Hmmm...

Tax cuts for the rich.... GOP
Banning abortion.... GOP
Banning books... GOP
Denying climate change... GOP
Hysteria with gay/trans... GOP
Trying to privatize SS... GOP
Trying to eliminate ACA... GOP

Yeah, you're totally right. No differences at all.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hmmm...

Tax cuts for the rich.... GOP
Lie. The CBO has REPEATEDLY reported that Trump's budget cuts did not affect "the rich" and instead benefited the middle class.
Banning abortion.... GOP
Lie. Dobbs sent the issue back to the States. NO STATE (AFAIK) completely bans abortion 100%. Several states have banned the procedure unless it is immediately necessary to save life (11 at last count) or one of the other exempt reasons but that's different from "banned."
Banning books... GOP
Lie. All of the supposedly "banned" books are still available in libraries and book stores.
Denying climate change... GOP
Lie. There's a difference between denial and discussion. Libs want to censor discussion while deny doing it.
Hysteria with gay/trans... GOP
Hysteria, like genderism, is also a mental illness.
Trying to privatize SS... GOP
This has been fringy nonsense for decades. Not going anywhere and everyone knows it.
Trying to eliminate ACA... GOP
Not going to even try and figure out what this one is about.
Yeah, you're totally right. No differences at all.

At least you got one thing correct, Libs are completely different from the GOP. Mainly, they lie. A lot. To themselves as much as to everyone else.

WTF are you talking about the CBO has consistantly said this:

Most of this extension’s tax breaks go to the richest one-fifth of households.

Oh well, your thinking is directly related to excessive intakes of carbon based water. So you're forgiven for believing the drivel you post.

It always makes me wonder what’s the benefit of the average republican voter in gaslighting and believing in so much misinformation and lies. I mean, trump is getting paid. LaPierre is rolling in blood money. The association of divorce lawyers has MGT in their pocket.
I know I get double Soros $$ anytime I drop the name Soros in general Soros conversation but who is paying the likes of HisArpy? I’ve seen no legislation benefiting the republican constituency that hasn’t come directly from democrats.

People often don't see the "benefits". What they see is the effects of a decision or a policy. Since they only see the "direct" results, they are shielded (or chose to remain blind) from the results that would have happened if those policies or decisions had not been implemented.

For example policy A causes a 10% tax increase, but if policy A was not enacted, the tax rate would have been 15%. The other side screams that the 10% increase was a direct result of Policy A. They say if they were in charge the Policy A tax increase would have been 2%. They can do this because it's all hypothetical ( I'm being nice and not calling them liars).

Most people don't bother digging for the facts. In my example, the facts showing the 15% increase could be explained and examined, if people chose to do the work, but most people are lazy and just want a simple answer. They are pissed about the 10% increase and now since the other side claims if they are elected they can reduce that 10% to 2%. When the other side comes to power, they either forget about their promise, or they revoke policy A and replace it with a policy that only adds 2%. Hoping people forget that the original 10% was never rolled back. Leading to a 3% reduction in revenue to offset the original 15% tax increase needed if policy A had not been enacted.

It is this type of person, a simple and lazy and poorly educated person, looking for simple answers who forms the base. They'll buy the easy answer, and a good salesperson knows this, and can figure out which buttons to push to get their support.

The one thing I would like to add to this list is:

Legitimizing an insurrection attempt... GOP

The GOP is no longer a political party-- it has become an insurrection movement.

A Mark Twain quote:
If you catch 100 red fire ants as well as 100 large black ants, and put them in a jar, at first, nothing will happen. However, if you violently shake the jar and dump them back on the ground the ants will fight until they eventually kill each other. The thing is, the red ants think the black ants are the enemy and vice versa, when in reality, the real enemy is the person who shook the jar. This is exactly what’s happening in society today.
