I keep rereading this. How is this a thing. I can get onboard with someone feeling misgendered but a different age too? If I woke up tomorrow and decided I was ted the farmer and Glad was gone I’d be called insane and they’d push to medicate me and treat me within an inch of my life, but if I woke up and decided I was Susie the 16 year old girl that would be ok? Can anyone help it make sense for me

yep. they didn't identify as a 13 year old girl. The swim category is 'open' meaning no upper age limit. Historically, no-one over 15 has entered, but there is nothing stopping anyone over 13 entering the race.
