I tried to make it kinda hard sci-fi. Have shape-shifting, telepathic aliens, but try to keep everything else grounded. Now of course the initial tweak to reality lends itself to the absurd (and I lean into that), but it was meant to be at least self-consistent and semi-believable.
No worries. My sci fi story has three fingered humanoids that secrete an insanely potent sex pheromone and seven foot tall Goats that claim victory in the arena by having sex with their opponent. I think we're good here.
