Plaintiff's filed an interlocutory appeal to SCOTUS. They asked Illinois for their side of the story. Illinois passed.

Now we wait to see if SCOTUS will grow a spine and earn it's pay. Doubtful, but there's always hope.

It's highly unlikely they're going to issue the injunction on an interlocutory filing. When it comes to the Bill Of Rights cases the court wants to tackle the final judgement.

However Barret has given the state and Naperville until this Wed. to respond, which I suspect they will. This is actually good news even if the injunction is denied. It indicates that the high court is watching this case as it moves forward and is forcing the defendants to go on record with the court. Even if the defendants don't respond I still suspect that the injunction will be denied, that's just the way the court works. But even a "no response" is going to be telling to the court.

When you say ‘earn its pay’ could you specify where and what kind of all expense paid vacation you’re hoping a lobbyist offers to influence any one of the hack conservative justices?

What's new is that the State has taken the court's prior cold shoulder to plaintiff's and has run with it, going completely off the rails. Now plaintiff's are screaming for help again and have the receipts to prove the State is intentionally infringing. Not just infringing, intentionally infringing. And Illinois isn't the only State doing this, Ca and NJ are doing it too.

At some point the SCOTUS is going to have to do something to enforce it's edicts. If it doesn't it loses what little real power is has over the rebelling lower courts. I suspect we're about at that tipping point. Whether this case or another case will be the one to change the balance is unknown but one case eventually will be.

The decorations are up, but it’s been a sad year for my partner and I. All 3 of our senior citizen dogs passed this year. We humanely euthanized because even Ol Yeller deserved better than what happened to him in the movie. Life is for the living and we hope to divert the love from dogs to friends, family, and each other even more in the coming year.
