I had assumed that's what fraternities were for. And men's clubs. And hunting clubs. And cigar clubs. And sports clubs. A little iffy on the competitive lawn maintenance clubs.

Fraternities have those paddling ceremonies for new members. Provocative, no? (It's in Animal House, for example.) In the Navy and elsewhere, they had drag shows and other goofiness for sailors crossing the equator for the first time. This 1936 photo shows some fun times in such an event.
