This is wonderful! When I was working, each department would get a family. We would have a small stipend to spend on food and gifts, but I always spent more. It was so much fun to go shopping for things the kids had on their lists. I always wanted to get something for the mom, as well. Then we would deliver the food and gifts to the family the week of Thanksgiving.

I like this too, but people ask for the strangest stuff. So our group has the mom and granddaughter another team has other family members. The mom gave a full dossier asking for spa days and a massage chair gift cards and gave all her clothing and shoe sizes and for the baby 2 yrs old like princesses... wears a 2t. It gives me a bit of the ick a little bit. I think I am going to get mom a visa gift card and buy princess stuff for the baby
