But I stayed with it, finished it, and wrote some different things after that and I've done well here over the years, but not because of that story and its the one I'm still most proud of. The strokers can have their penthouse letters pure insecure male fantasies(because that's what that audience is) and more power to them.

Exactly!

But we don't have to write them, or like them and that's all that matters.

Exactly again! I would just add though that there are many writers who don't pander to the stroke masses, then get discouraged by a low score. I would (and it seems you would as well) encourage them to do as you did: be patient, keep at it, write stuff that you believe in, build up a profile and wait for you audience to find you. You did it that way and have been very successful.

BTW, I can't imagine the type of brain dead knuckle dragger or gross creepy stalker is in the chat forums here. Then again the AH does boast one of the forums sickest bastards so we'll always have that.

Yes, those people do exist but you would be surprised that the vast majority are very civil. It's a pretty passive bunch for the most part. That 'get lucky with a slut' crowd really is a very subby crowd. The most common interaction for me is:

"Wanna do some (insert kink here)?"
"No thank you"
"Cool. Thanks for responding :)"

I also have probably the most extensive chat profile on lit. I often get this:

"Hey there, loooooove the profile, so detailed. interested in a cheating scene?"

Well ... there is a line in my profile that specifically states something like "I have nothing against adultery but please don't bring me your cheating scenes. They're boring". So the rest of it goes ...

"No thank you"
"Ok, have a good one"

It's pretty clear that many many chatters will just ignore any offer that they are not interested in without a care in the world that they are letting someone hang for 3, 5, 10 minutes. The anonymity of the internet harbors that. Most guys are very appreciative that you will take the time to decline politely. Once in a blue moon you get some asshole who wants to argue. It's pretty rare. It can also be pretty fun, an opportunity for me to stretch my feminine wit and sarcasm on some douchebag's ass, like heckler who becomes total fair game for a comedian. Sometimes I save the comments. They're very funny.

Basically there are a bunch of fairly nice guys looking for that skanky unicorn or find someone to share their spanking fetish with, but yea there are douches here and there. When you are new, you get lots of messages, tons of lookie loos, but once someone like me becomes known and they all recognize the name as not the unicorn that they're looking for they leave you alone. I will often log in, greet the room and get no responses at all for an hour or two. Like I said, by and large they're a passive subby group. It does depend which kink room you're in but then I'm one of the least kinky chatters there.

Yeah, I've had a small number of guys on here ask me to engage in stuff that I don't want, but they generally go away pretty quickly when they realize that I'm not interested.

It's annoying when you get requests which your profile specifically says you aren't into. But I've never had anyone be mean or anything. A little rude maybe, but nowhere near as rude as I've seen in open interactions in the forums or story comments.

Well, that comment seems to have killed off this thread.

(As a relative newcomer here I hesitate to express a value judgment, but I agree that lots of threads can get bogged down in mutual flirting, although it's easy enough to scroll past the uninteresting posts. I also feel I should add that it seems to be mostly women flirting with Emily, rather than men. )

Emily Miller changed the entire culture to that in a sadly short period of time. It took one person to act like a bimbo and talk about sex to expose most of the guys here as the grabby little boys they've always been. They act the way a lot of guys here expect women to act, but none of the women here ever did...one person -and whether its a persona or how they really are doesn't matter-but its all they needed.

Kids these days...

I see, well I'll still stand by my remark. I know who creeps in PM's and who doesn't and the same names invariably pop up.

As for the true subject of your reply...that kid is playing more than one game, and it makes things that transpire here even funnier.

People are going to play games on message boards. I don't pay it much mind. I ignore the flirty threads and I don't engage ins PM shenanigans. Who does that with who is none of my business.

If its mutual, its fine when its creepers making people uncomfortable enough to leave its not. Ignore unfortunately doesn't work when you're dealing with alts or people using feedback to keep it going
