What’s your most controversial opinion?

What about diabetics?
😳🙄
Ok then.

Now, here’s a controversial opinion for you, people should manage their own stuff. It’s not on everyone else to not give out candy because diabetics shouldn’t eat it. (Though most can have some)
It’s on diabetics to know they shouldn’t eat it or to not go trick or treating.

Amen! I have a friend who expects everyone to cater to her food allergies. Unlike all the rest of us who either don't partake or provide our own food and don't make a huge deal out of it. She complains if we have chocolate desserts because she can't eat chocolate. Then stay at home and keep your mouth shut! Sorry, she really triggers me with this diva type behavior. I'm not supposed to have dairy products but I eat them anyway and suffer the consequences. I'll have my queso and suffer happily, thank you! I definitely won't complain about someone else eating it in front of me. I'll shove them out of the way to get some! 😂

I would like to argue two points. One, "most." I honestly believe it's not most, just the rabid minority that's wrested control of their group, which I guess isn't surprising as it's the most vocal, in your face, aggressive portion. Two "Conservatives." While I agree, I would also add "liberals" to make it "conservatives and liberals." I say this because both sides have their hangups and want people to feel/act/be what they say people should be. Neither side is willing to listen to opposing arguments and they both resort to yelling and emotional blackmail. I have little hope for either side ever coming to terms with each other as they can't even decide something as simple as bathroom rights. Oh, and they're all in the pockets of big corporate and pure capitalism is pure evil. It's one of the few things I'll say religion got right, "the love of money is the root of all evil," even though they only say that so you'll give them your money.

Sorry for the paragraph, I have opinions. :)
No.. I enjoy your opinion. I find that Repubs and Dems can't seem to debate on anything. Your message was refreshing.

First: The party that is always trying to TAKE rights away are the Republicans. Can you tell me what RIGHTS Democrats have put into bills that hurt or take away civil rights? I have researched and found none.

Second: The minority are a very powerful bunch. They refuse to admit that Trump LOST unless they are about to go out of office, or they are already out. Which makes the current conservative party corrupt. Whenever I hear or read something they have said I do a ton of research on it. It's usually debunked and found to be a bold face lie just to keep the power. How is that democracy? How is overthrowing our election and our government with an insurrection beneficial to anyone? Then they blame ANTIFA or BLACK LIVES MATTER or saying the Democrats set it all up -- When a thousand people had been charged with federal crimes by the end of January 2023, two years after the attack. The number surpassed 1,100 in August 2023. By the end of July 2023, 629 defendants had pleaded guilty, and 129 others went to trial... NOT A SINGLE ANTIFA or BLM or DEM found in the bunch. Not one! Why is that? I've heard.. because the FBI is only targeting MAGA. Well, if not a single Trump support was involved... how did they find, arrest and convict so many MAGA? Unless... can it be? MAGA were involved? On Fox they blamed everyone except the insane MAGA.

(I have many John McCain / Liz Chaney Republican friends. I can openly debate and exchange ideas with them. We have soooooooooooooooooo many things in common. They are appalled at the MAGA hateful rhetoric and have admitted they feel their party is held hostage by the extreme MAGA cultists. We hurt and cry together. Many plugged their noses and voted for Biden and they say they will do it again until Trump is finally held accountable for his criminal actions and traitorous deeds.)

Third: I am a devout Daughter of God...and I am grateful for the upbringing I have had.. However, I believe in the true separation of Church and State. I have too many friends who are NOT Christian. I would dislike is someone non-Christian stepped in with a strict religious freedom bill based on their religion to take over my country. And I would dislike it if my own religion forcefully took over their country.

And when the Conservative group MOTHERS FOR LIBERTY try to ban books throughout my state I was horrified. Which they tried here in my school district. That hurts children, takes rights away from parents, AND it hurts what I do for a living. I read to children in libraries and schools. When they swooped in on their brooms cloaked in Christianity it almost made me ill. The books they were banning were so obviously from bigoted and judgmental reasons. 250 books they had on their list to be banned. Thank God, our district said, "NO!". But other districts cleared their library book shelves and have implemented a book ban on literature of race, orientation, culture, or honest American history. Because of them... I now make it a priority to read THOSE potentially banned books to the children I educate. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. I preface the reading by saying to the 30 to 50 parents in the room "this book is on the banned list. When I am finished I'd like to know what you find offensive or objectionable about it?" 99 out of 100 experiences they are just as dumbfounded as I am. I had one mother walk over and slap the book out of my hand. She hurt me. when the library called the police we discovered she was with Mothers for Liberty and didn't even have a child in the room at the time. That alone didn't help their case.

I look forward to your rebuttal. Have a blessed Wednesday.

Are you familiar with the 2nd amendment to the Constitution?

More to the point every regulation chips away a rights. It probably doesn't seem that way to you, because you have probably never done with the compliance paperwork. Compliance is how big business strangles small business.

Yes, the amendment that says “well regulated” in it?

If you receive a message from someone, you should answer it, unless the message was asking you not to contact them again. This is especially lacking on personals sites, where people just stop responding or never return a message. Men and women alike are guilty of it.
Fuck no! I started my lit life like this and yuck it didn’t go well. I usually only message people back if I’ve interacted with them on threads and it’s been positive, or, if they have something interesting to say. My time is precious. I have a thread, and I have my people. I’m lucky to have really awesome people who never demand my time. Some people I wish I could message more but I (like many on here) am time poor.
Everyone has some delusion about themself. They might believe they are better looking than they are, or smarter than they are, or exaggerate some facet of their lives. If we are lucky we figure out what that delusion is and reset to reality.
Someone tell me my delusion. I have no idea. Probably that I’m funnier than I am. Is that it?
People on the autism spectrum, especially high performing to the extent you’d never suspect them, probably have a higher chance of anxiety and depression than the average person.
Are you on the autism spectrum? It’s called a co-morbidity. People who have something like autism, ADHD, OCD etc are more likely to be diagnosed with depression and anxiety than their ‘normal’ peers but there are plenty of people who struggle in silence or have other shit going on in their lives. Just cos I have depression doesn’t mean I’m depressed.
Nobody is “normal.” “Normal” is an artificial societal construct that is an impossible standard for everyone to meet.
I don’t think this is overly controversial. It’s pretty much what anyone under 30 has grown up understanding. In fact I won’t use the word normal in my home.

No rights or constitutional rights are absolute.

Controversial Opinion

Take your politics to the political board. 🙄
If I wanted to hear about politics...oh, hell. Who am I kidding. I don't want to hear about your political opinions. I might just have to unwatch this thread.

That last bit was sarcasm, but the rest? Yeah. My opinion. You don't have to like it, much like I don't like yours. 😉

I AM a 2nd amendment liberal gun owner. And NEVER once did they say they were taking my guns away from me. Somehow the terrible scare tactics from FOX makes lies about everyone will lose their guns and we will be defenseless. That is just plain stupid. Trust me, they will have to fight me and all other gun owners to take our guns away. HOWEVER... AR-15 Republican slaughter guns shouldn't be in the hands of anyone outside of the military. And statistics show that 97% of Americans wants gun regulation. Not taking ANY civil rights away from me. Slaughter guns take the rights away from the dead little bodies blown apart.

Lauren Boebert claims to be a good mother. But ANY mother who seems to masturbate over slaughtered children and then doubles down on the 2nd amendment after a mass shooting isn't a good mother at all.

Back to SEX.., politics? Meet you in that forum

I think the term “camel toe” is offensive
But
I’m a man
I like camel toes! Are they uncomfortable??
So?
Dick & Jane… Ladies all have a “Jane” ok?
“Camel Toe” becomes “Jane Smile” Jane Grin” ??
Less offensive? or still objectifies women ??

I did not expect such a lengthy response. Sadly, I have replied in just as lengthy a format.

First: The Republicans are trying to take away all abortion rights, and no, I don't think it's right. I personally don't like abortion as a birth control (we have many forms already), but there are lots of other reasons abortion is the right choice.

The obvious rebuttal is Democrats wanting to take away guns, yes, 90% of this is rhetoric and overblown, but there are those that want to. Do we need better gun laws? Yes, kind of, more like we need a more unified law which is what the federal government is for. I could go on a whole thing here, but I expect most of my points people would agree with as sensible.

While not directly taking away rights, reducing penalties for crimes and removing bail amounts is only increasing crime which effectively removes rights of law abiding citizens and directly placing their lives at increased risk. I could probably also argue that letting illegal immigrants to vote directly dilutes a citizens right to vote though in truth our immigration system is broken as it allows no way for an illegal to become legal short of destroying their life.

Second: Sigh, yes, what happened was wrong, about the only thing that can be said positive is they didn't kill anyone, and really that's a low-ass bar. To make it worse, most of them thought it was just a lark and they wouldn't be held accountable. That seriously irritates me; if you do something wrong, own it and take responsibility for it. So why the sigh? It happened, once. How many looting and destruction spree's happened after the George Floyd incident? As far as the arguments that A or B insitgated it, I don't really care if some guy in the back is yelling at you to do something, it's your choice to do it and you're responsible for the outcome.

Third: I am a devout agnostic. I believe church and state should be separate merely because I look at church as I do at Whimpy (I think that was his name) promising to buy two burgers tomorrow if we buy him one today. While I know a lot of our laws/rights come from religion, I'm of the mind that if it's a good idea I'm not too worried about the source. Bans are dumb and have proven to be worse than taking no action time and time again. Did banning alcohol work? No. Drugs? No. Have book bans ever worked? Not really, and in the age of the internet, HA. I like warning labels, however that would require parents to actaully take an interest in their childrens lives (for more than political grandstanding reasons.) I feel that schools are going beyond what they should be teaching, however I also feel they aren't teaching what they should be; math, english, factual history not spun to make people feel bad about shit that happened in the grandparents time, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, finances. Stuff that will let them be somewhat self-sufficient when they graduate and, hopefully, give them the ability to take information in and make decisions based on that information.

Sidebars:
News: I think I said this before but Fox, CNN, ABC, NBC, etc are all politic entities and have ceased to be news organizations. A news organization researches its stories and then reports the facts without leaving anything out or obfuscating what's being said. Finding out anything anymore is a nightmare due to the immense amount of information you need to sort through.

Trump: I liked some of his policies but he really needs to just shut up and stop trying to be the center of attention all the f-ing time.

MAGA; the ones I see seem to be people who are too lazy to think and prefer to spew prerecorded statements and just let their feelings rule them while feeling good about themselves.

Elections: they're rigged from the start as you only have limited choices from day 1 based on the party. I would like elections to be ranked instead of single vote. For fun, I'd like to see an election where you vote for the person you would least want to win and the person with the least votes is the winner, just so people know how disliked they are.

Hope you're having a great day as well.

I've gone back to eating salted peanuts after years of preferring dry roasted. It must mean something....?

Where have you been all my life and are you considering a run for president?

Edited to add: the president thing was meant light-heartly before I discovered a couple posters got lost on their way to the political forum.
