So our second shift manager is on vacation for a couple weeks, so I'm working a split shift most of the days, but because my wife has some late afternoon appointments I'm mixing in a couple of first shifts.

Yesterday I went in for 10am and worked until 10pm, get home eat, too wound to sleep right away, get to bed around midnight and had to get up today at 4:30 to work 5:30 to 3pm.

When I first got up I was like...are you kidding me? And that feeling lasted all day.

Another sign that tells me I'm not 35 anymore. Hell even ten years ago I could have pulled that off without much of an issue.

But...at least I can do it, just need a lot of caffeine and skittles to get through

Well I said I would have a longer post when I had time. 8 guess now is the time (before I get started on the weekend chores). I have said I am 53 from the Midwest. I am a nurse, but dont work bedside. Spent majority of the career in emergency room. Now I work in an admin role making sure Medicare patients get all the resources they need to care for them. I am one of a team if 3.... I am very busy. The physicality of er nursing is not something i ever want to do again. Not to mention the mental and emotional toll it took. I have a very very good life. I am grateful for all my blessings.

I have sister-in-law and an epal on here who both worked in ER. Like you, they both found it physically and emotionally draining. But you all have our gratitude and admiration for taking on such a demanding role. It's nice to know there are people like you to take are of us if or when we need it. Thank you. 🤕 👏

Thank you for the work you do! I'm a nurse as well, retired now. My last job was Quality Manager, the one everyone else loves to hate. Until TJC time comes around!
