For CCW I carry a Firestar M45. I have no particular beef with the Glock 21 other than personal prejudice. I don't particularly care for striker fired pistols or double stack magazines. It has nothing to do with functionality although I have observed that double stackers seem to be more prone to feeding issues and/or stove piping.

100 rnd drum? Why not just get something that's belt fed? :D

Glocks work. That's the only reason I have any of them. There are, to me, no other reasons. I have never had one of them malf on me - yet. And there are fewer tactical reloads.

A drum is sufficient. I don't think more than 32 or 33 even exist, much less would show up.

I'm a 'spender guy. Belts are for teenagers, hippies and other assorted ne'er-do-wells.

🤠
Suspender guys are often the men who lost their waistline a long time ago. Another option for them is kaftan robes from the Arabic cultures. Hey, nothin' wrong with wearing a dress.

They're all pretty good off the shelf. What we (we being a large group of shooters including a few dealers) have found is that the Remington 1911R1 and the Ruger SR1911 tend to be the best shooters off the shelf, no tweaking required. The Kimber tends to be the most temperamental.

All of them with the Series 80 style slide design tend to have firing pins prone to breakage. I would highly recommend getting an after market firing pin, Wilson Combat and/or Ed Brown have high quality replacement offerings.

We're limited here in California as to what manufacturers can sell us. Even so I carry a Kimber commander in .45 and a full sized Springfield in 9mm. I'm going to have to add a steel ramp insert or ramped barrel to the Kimber. It has an aluminum frame and the integral factory ramp is wearing out.

The extractor on the S&W 1911 is better than the original design. It's the same design as S&W used on it's other series like the 5906 and is well tested. Unfortunately the S&W had overall reliability issues that hurt it's version of the 1911 in the marketplace.

I've seen Glocks malf. It even happened during a training class once.

Personally I don't like them. The ergonomics suck and the mechanical operation sucks worse than that. Add in the shitty trigger group and it's three strikes because more magazine capacity is worthless if you can't use the gun effectively.

So noted.

I prefer the old SIGs. I'm not a .40 S(hort) & W(eak) fan, so that kinda leaves the 9mm. I think that they make a .357SIG for those models, but I'm reluctant to add another cartridge to the mix. I do have a hybrid 1911 double stack mag in 10mm. I like it but I don't entirely trust it as it seems prone to fouling. That leaves me my G-20 and G-21. They have everything Glock about them, all that you mentioned, but mine have gone "bang" every single time. They haven't fucked up.

In addition to attracting the larger crowd of mostly male posters who get off on collecting and firing military grade weapons, this thread more specifically attracts the Stormfront militia types. Note that they openly state their desire to disarm federal law enforcement agents and express their desire to have these agents die, purportedly from suicide.

Take heed, Lit.

Unfortunately, your offer to send me your "excess" ammo isn't valid in California.

We have rules here in the Golden State. One of those rules is that we can't have too much fun. Or any fun. A place where even thinking of the word fun is outlawed.

Some 1911's are picky bitches and insist on taking a bath regularly. I have one which refuses to go to work if it's been more than 300 rounds since her last full body spa cleansing and oil massage. Which is what you get when you pick up a trophy girl with expensive tastes.

I much prefer my floozies than her. But she sure looks purty under the lights and when she's working, she's working it hard and getting all the looks. If those hustlers staring my way knew what it takes to get her off the couch they'd probably avert their lust filled eyes.

Or maybe not, she's a real looker that one. Did I mention she goes home with me and no one else? The floozies OTOH, get to sleep around. Not so much anymore, but in their heyday, they got all kinds of "handling."

I have a P226 that is so old (how old is it?) that it says "made in W. Germany" on the slide, Not much finish, a little bit a'loose, but she runs like there's no tomorrow. She was short on finish - lots of holster wear with some serious use, too - but she spits out every single thing I feed her.

I have the 229 version, too. She's low miles but seems just as dependable.

It's the best example yet of a right-wing incel poetically waxing about the joy of ammosexuality. :ROFLMAO:

Apparently some people have their head shoved so far up their own ass they can't recognize parody.

But it's ok. They love the smell of bullshit in the morning.

The Kimber tends to be temperamental? I don’t know about them. I never owned a 1911, but have wanted one for years. I had heard Kimber made the really cool ones. Frankly, I would prefer Ruger version because I am a big Ruger fan. Thanks for sharing!

Edit: OMG… I probably don’t belong here… sorry. I’ll take my guns and go. 😔

I have revolvers that are more than 100 years old. My oldest pistol was .25 Caliber Colt pocket from the 1940's (I think). I sold it because it was such a piece of crap.

My oldest rifle currently is a WWII battlefield pickup Italian Carcano. No import marks anywhere. It's been bubba'd by yours truly when I was just a yonker and "knew better."

I wouldn't shoot it today, the barrel bore is so corroded it's unsafe. Basically it takes up space in my gun safe that could be used for better purposes but I don't have the heart to get rid of it.

I'd like to get an original 1892 Henry some day. It could join the Carcano in the safe and just hang out together.

Kimber uses MIM (Metal Injected Molding) parts in their 1911's which sometimes break. Springfield Armory doesn't use MIM but they're pricey. Rock Island is a good entry level 1911.

All officers models tend to be a bit choosy because of how short the action is. The commanders do better but sometimes an individual gun might need to see a 1911 specialist.

The full sized models will run the plastic puppies into the ground all day every day.

I like Ruger's too. I sometimes carry a .357 SP101 that's been lightly massaged and has had the grip changed. She's a floozy too but for some reason most of the people who put their hands on her butt tell me that she hits back when they really get to spankin' her.

I used to have that problem too in the beginning. Then I spanked her harder and she quieted right down.

I had a GP100 Match Champion 357, which was absolutely excellent. I had to sell it because life hates me and is a total piece of shit. 😔😔

The GP100's are nice. They're stronger but harder to conceal than the SP101. OTOH, they make the J frame S&W revolvers look like they're made of cooked spaghetti. I have actually shot a J frame S&W in .357 which was so loose the cylinder would sometimes swing out on its own when shooting .357 loads. That girl was scary.

WTH????? That pistol was severely abused. The J frame is like the Mod. 19 K frame. You can shoot .357 through it but it will seriously reduce the longevity of the pistol. Many Mod. 19's ended up in the parts bin from owners insisting on shooting .357 all the time.

So… y’all are saying just buy a Ruger instead and life will be good, right?

Broke out a bunch of old rifles today and a few old handguns too.

Shot my dads old Mossberg model 25 .22 rifle. Hit the gong at 100 yds w irons just about every time. It is an accurate rifle.

Also sighted in my Ruger American ranch.

Had my 1953 Polish made mosin Nagant m44 carbine out. Like a fucking canon! Shorter barrel means huge flames shooting out. Lots of fun. Recoil like a mule. I believe this rifle was never fired before I bought it. There was no wear and tear on it.

Had my 1913 Lee Enfield Mk 3 out. Smooth action - maybe the smoothest I’ve ever witnessed. Accurate. Pretty good shape. Most certainly saw action in WW1 and/or ww2. Has volley sights for indirect fire over trenches.

Also had the M1903 Springfield out. Also smooth action. Can’t shoot standard 30-06 out of it… need m2 ball ammo for it. (Same w my Garand). Also a super accurate rifle.

We shot up a bunch of gongs and targets and an old 1/4” steel boiler I found in the woods.

Great day!!

I got a Kimber and really like it, but what I have found is you really need to control the recoil to keep in from jamming.

I have dealers say it needs at least 500 rounds pushed through it since it is machined to such fine tolerances, but am not sure if that is true or not. Mine is within the first 500 round range, and I found controlling the recoil is what makes it more reliable.

Mine is a Micro 9mm though and not the best for concealed carry. A nice looking 9mm, but heavy and controlling recoil is the last thing on your mind when in a dark alley and a dude is looking to rape the wife. :)
