I'm not a big jazzer, have to be in the mood for it. When I do listen to it, I prefer the more traditional jazz as opposed to the smooth jazz that's so popular today. I've been listening to some Wes Montgomery as of late. His live album with the Wynton Kelly Trio is really excellent, and they do a cover of Miles Davis' No Blues which really showcases Montgomery's guitar work. I bought the CD a few years ago and it's great from start to finish. Certainly worth picking up if you're a jazz aficionado, and for fans of jazz guitar in particular.

 
During my high school years, I think I listened to this guy more than anyone else

I dug out my Miles Davis CDs and have been giving them a listen. It took me a while to really start listening to him as I was somewhat intimidated by the size of his catalog; he recorded so much music over his career and went through a number of phases so it was always a question of where do I start? This is off of one of his earlier albums, "Birth of the Cool." I got it as part of a five CD set. It's short but it really cooks.

Yes. This is a classic. It’s interesting how he evolved and ended up almost into fusion territory. That generation of musicians were true trail blazers I think. My son is a jazz musician (guitar) so keeps me fed with endless recommendations and new genres which seem to be constantly emerging from the tradition.
 
The Guess Who - Clap for the Wolfman

Kind of a novelty song but it's still pretty cool and it was a pretty big hit when it came out. Burton Cummings has to be one of the most underappreciated vocalists in rock music, and someone please explain to me why these guys aren't in the rock 'n' roll hall of fame.

Did you listen to any of the post-punk era UK bands? Ian Dury and the Blockheads were quirky and very talented. Saw them several times. One of the tightest , live bands I’ve seen.
