Have you done art besides writing?

Very nice. I'm more of a "vintage Euro cars" guy but I can appreciate a fierce hot rod. The weathering/aging on the panels looks damn good.
Thanks. I've done a lot of weathered vehicles. It appeals to me more than the shiny stuff and it's challenging to make it look realistic. That's not to say I haven't done shiny though.

I don't know how many will see it as such, but I was a machinist and tool maker for over thirty years. I never saw it as a job, but more as a craft. I've always found taking a raw piece of material( steel, aluminum, plastic, whatever) and shaping it into a precision functional part, very rewarding.

I'm talking about manual machining, not CNC machining which is a craft in itself. My hat is off to the ever growing number of CNC programmers and operators, and machinists. That was a bug I just didn't catch, but it's CAF.

I'd count it. I've seen some beautiful examples of machining and welding.

Ah. Explains your avatar. I thought it was a cutter head, so I thought right. Cool.

I write for a video game as a job, and have recently been dabbling in game design too - my company have taken a few of my designs on board too which is thrilling!

I am a good photographer and a great cook.

I think my biggest creative talent though, is my imagination. It's wild in my head!
I’ve been told the same thing regarding my imagination. And I’ve written video game walkthroughs. Wouldn’t mind writing for a game someday.

Sculptural freeform surface model in CAD.

I cut glass, take it to precisely 1445*F, shape/form it into either something beautiful, useful, or both and then use it.

Endeavor in a so far fruitless pursuit to reproduce my late Grandma’s buns. I’ve come close but I so wished I watched closer when she made bread and had captured her secrets.

Pen and ink drawing, pencil/charcoal less so, a bit of painting, linoleum block, a bit of glass etching. Used to play some music (not all that well, I'll admit, but it felt good to me); CTS put an end to that.

No art work here though, bummer.

I'm reading into Japanese wood block at the moment, I adore that aesthetic. Hiroshige, Hokusai. Linoleum block is probably easier for the carving.

I dabble in photography and paint, mostly with acrylics these days. Still got a soft spot for watercolor. I got very good with digital painting using Photoshop, but it takes a lot more time than traditional mediums, so I don't do it much. I imagine I will pick it back up for novel covers in the future though.

I've played piano, flute and violin since I was very young. My music teachers have said I've got perfect pitch, as such I can pick up and play just about any instrument I get my hands on and I can largely figure out complex songs just by listening to them.

I started dabbling in guitar over Covid, it's been fun learning something new. I have a handful of instruments around I still play for fun from time to time. And I sing. I love to sing. I'm rather good but have never thought to try my hand professionally, because I have absolutely horrific stage fright! 😅

I suppose lastly would be sushi, I’m a sushi chef. This style of cuisine relies greatly on visual execution, and I love that about it!

I fell into a boring job by accident lol

I spent like seven years working retail... turned down promotions and quit when I decided I wasn't trying to spend twenty years there just so I could get retirement perks. Life's too short for boring jobs, drop that like a hot potato and find one that you loveee!

Amen to that!

I actually did quit 😊

In the world of today, it's alright... just, you know, don't ever stop thinking about you. If we drop dead these corporations will have us replaced the next week and probably cry at our funerals asking our corpses why we've inconvenienced them so badly. So fuck the corporate overlords. If you get another boring job, make sure you're working on something you want on the side and ride them out until you're ready. ♥️ /sexpuns

In other words, the company has no loyalty to you, so don't hold any loyalty to the company.

I stay at my job because I enjoy the work, it pays reasonably well, and my coworkers and direct boss are good to work with. Any of those conditions change for the worse and I start looking for a job somewhere else.

High school: commercial art, photography. Was picking up bass and guitar from 17-early mid 20s.

Been working on getting going on bass again. I've been worrying in the garage, and want to start doing something artistic with that.
