Old School Musicianship… Rock and Roll.. Jazz… Blues… Big Band even…

Anything by Linda Ronstadt I absolutely adore her.
I discovered Van Halen when their second album came out, and have been a fan ever since (they had a few misses though… ). However, how cool it is that they did a cover of “You’re No Good” - and I love both versions equally… Linda is that level of cool!

This also doesn’t fit here.. but I am watching a movie (the movie) featuring this song… and had to post it because… I do not have any idea why…

But 10 points to whoever knows what movie I am watching. 🤣🤣🤣

Glen Campbell - Bow Legged Polly and Knock Kneed Paul

and yes, I did watch the whole youTube before I posted it.

I would say it stars the ultra-cool Sidney Poitier. I am a Steve McQueen fan, but I think Sidney out-cools McQueen. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

And please don't ask me to watch each one to look for something specific 😳
Don’t worry… I would not ask that… besides, the movie is what I marveled over. I have nothing against the series, I just never watched it. Maybe 10 or 20 minutes worth here and there… but I was spoiled by the movie.

I watched tons of the tv show MASH growing up..l but when I saw the actual movie? Sorry... the movie wins. 🥰🥰🥰🥰😍

Oh - 20 points to RJ for not only knowing what it is from, but doing so as a big fan of the tv show. Not easy to make that jump, but he did.

I will tell Gossamer to stand down… 🥰🥰🥰

Burton Cummings - Stand Tall

Okay… this creeps me out! Dig this… I re-read my last post “stand down”… and thought… wait, I was just pondering my absolute favorite singers of all time.. Burton Cummings is way up there near the top (if not the very top for male singers) and I thought of Stand Tall… which has been emotionally supportive of me at times on my life. So I open youTube, start typing Burton and it shows this song as the top hit. WTF???? The app is reading my f-ing brain!!!

So who is my favorite vocalist? I think probably Nancy Wilson. Followed close by Bonnie Raitt, Paul McCartney and of course Burton Cummings (not in that order)

Ann and Nancy Wilson - Stairway To Heaven (Kennedy Center)

I am such a wimp… I cry every single time I hear this version. Why? Because these musicians are performing a legendary song for the people who made it… including Jason Bonham, the son of the original drummer, John Bonham… 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

Moon Martin - Rolene

A "kinda" one-hit wonder. This was the only hit he had, I don't recall hearing anything else from him.

However, another song he wrote and recorded (which never charted) was covered by some fellow named Robert Palmer, and that was Bad Case of Loving You, which made the latter guy a much bigger star than Moon Martin. Hopefully Martin got royalties from the song.
