Looks like Sen. Mitch McConnell just had a stroke standing at the GOP press conference

True that! Trump owes a lot to the senator. He masterfully shepherded many of Trumps policies through the Senate, most notably the TCJA. Add to that 3 SCOTUS appointees that still have the left screaming and truckloads of lower court judges confirmed. And now Trump and his die hard supporters hate him. Lol.
Yes, we are aware of your anti-American position and your adoration for convicted rapists and senile old fools.

Was that Mitch on TV tonight? I thought it was "Weekend at Bernie's"

My bad...

for all of my disgust of mcconnell as a politician, i can't help but feel for him to have this happen twice now in public. i know we can crow about karma and liken him (as i have have) to the embodiment of the devil playing politics, but i think this goes to show that he's just another human. For all his awful political manipulations, to get frozen like that (even if his mind is also temporarily absent) must be monstrously humiliating for a man used to pulling the strings...even worse if his mind is still working but his body's unresponsive in the full glare of the media cameras.

It shows he's not 'the devil'—but for those who still believe in such stuff it has to show he's just another frail human being toyed with for 'the devil's own amusement' and he's nothing more than another human being who believed in 'the devil's deal'. In reality, just another man.
He really does need to hang up his hat as anything other than an advisor.

It's hard to have the feels for a guy who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans.

i loathe and abhor his actions. i wish he served time for them.

but when i see a person, especially a frail elderly person suffering i can't help but feel for them

I hear ya, and some day a similar neurological condition could affect any of us.

SILVER LINING: If it happens to me, I won't be a high profile guy who manipulated federal court appointments to oppress women, minorities, and victims of gun violence. Therefore, my Weekend-at-Bernie's moments will not likely be televised.

reminds me of the downfall of thatcher
Not in the slightest, Thatcher was 16 years younger than McConnel when she got the chop. In this respect a parliamentary system is much better, because they can always get rid of dead wood. The USA is run by geriatrics of both parties. Pollies and Judges should not qualify for any election/appointment after 70, and be automatically booted at 75. And I am not prejudiced because at 85 most of these people are younger than me.

And Butters: No one deserves sympathy because of their age. When it is given we just exploit it.

Hey! Listen up! I'm elderly, like the ones you are talking about.

I drive; no one on the sidewalk complains when I do. Having read and investigated what/why/how it affects us all beforehand, I voted. Not just some party-line crapola. I write my officials, giving my $0.02. Make my breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Know how to do laundry. Maintain my meds. I can write an erotic story and post it here. Yeah, I burn a piece of toast now and again. Who hasn't?

As to age limits - no - get over that idea. I don't need someone telling me I'm too old to handle public service. That should come from voters at the ballot boxes. Rather than restrict by age, set term limits for everyone. The idea of service to your country should be out of a sense of idealism - not setting a goal of becoming an institutional icon with amassed powers due to the length of office. George Washington set that precedent, and I even voted for him. Could you check my record on that if you don't believe me?

Yes, move on, older folks, and let those with good common sense share the process. But for God's sake, don't elect the idiots like those recently who entered their offices without a clue as to what to do, are morally bankrupt by blatantly lying about their backgrounds, or unquestioningly kiss someone's behind with every breath they take. [add - or claim an election was stolen, votes were manipulated by Italian satellites or some asshole in Venezuela. And who would choose a demonstrably morally bent and narcissistic guy.]

And .... for the younger ones whining about older adults being too old to be of service, just wait until your kids put you down and see how you feel about that when it's too damn late to complain.

Old people think they deserve respect because they are old. They don't. They get what they give. Just like any human being.

So when they vote to take away human rights...I have no respect for them. Nothing but wasted lives

Yes, Biden is a senile old fool but I certainly don’t admire him. You must have me confused with someone else.

with all due respect, it did remind ME: her dementia was recognised when she was 75, but she went downhill and died at 87 years of age. He's now 81. It reminded me, because of the similarities of holding such power over a country but then falling into mental decline in quite a public fashion, and how—if there was a part of them aware of what was happening—it must be one of the most humiliating and distressing experiences a person like them could go through. Personally, i think it looks like mcconnell's episodes are seizures, as i said before, possibly brought on by that fall but then again the falls he's experienced might have been down to seizures in the first place. And just like i can hate what thatcher did as a politician, and not feel any sorrow when she died, i still cannot take pleasure in seeing a person suffer.

i do not sympathise with someone purely because of their age: events in my past life has shown i'm prone to have sympathy for any human being suffering. It's not something i choose, it is a part of who i am. I'm also aware of how people can exploit this if i allow it (whatever their age), and i've grown pretty good at not letting that happen.

He had another one yesterday, Not anything worse than what Biden has been sporting for two years.

You're always so late to the party, Scat-Man. This thread was revived and subject commented on yesterday because of just that. :ROFLMAO:

and no, Biden has not sported anything close to Glitch McConnell's public petrifications.

has anyone ever experienced 'light-headedness' as a 'freeze for half a minute' event?

of course, i'll defer to the medical professionals but it does seem counterintuitive.

Sometimes when following a trumper's pretzel logic while defending him, my eyes become glossy.
