The lit old timers thread

They moved on to other social media platforms

There was definitely an exodus when Facebook took off. I remember people talking about posting there, then others mentioning following them, and soon, a whole circle of people would be gone.

It was problematic. Some people posted links in their siglines to their facebook or myspace, and if you followed them it led to a lot of personal info on a network of people who posted here. Names, pictures, locations and so forth. It's good to have a firewall between one's erotic life and the rest of it. I don't fault people for finding it easier to pull the plug on Lit than to pull the plug on facebook, a lot less real life explaining to do.

People became friends in real life and it took off (off Lit)

I think forums in general have been dying since social media took off. Reddit, Discord, TikTok, nobody is joining a traditional message board anymore.

If they are on Facebook it should be easy to locate them if people are friends with them
I think the interest in lit has faded for some.
A lot of people had their own little circle of friends. This was how Lint and Clique came about. A way for people to stay in touch with their friends.
Then social media took off. The need for an old fashioned posting board was no longer needed.
People’s lives changed, as well.

This. Plus, people were getting outted here quite a bit. It got to where you didn't know who to trust. If you knew people IRL, it was just safer to stick exclusively with things like Facebook.
