Looks like Sen. Mitch McConnell just had a stroke standing at the GOP press conference

Mitch McConnell fell recently at a D.C. airport, before his news conference freeze-up
The Senate Republican leader, 81, has also been using a wheelchair to navigate crowded airports, said a source familiar with his practices.

The fall, which has not been previously reported, occurred July 14 after the flight out of Washington was canceled while everyone was on board. McConnell, R-Ky., who was a passenger, had a “face plant,” someone who was on the plane at the time but did not witness the fall told NBC News. That passenger also said they spoke to another passenger who helped tend to McConnell.

McConnell has also recently been using a wheelchair as a precaution when he navigates crowded airports, said a source familiar with his practices.

He has no business being there. If we can cap air traffic controllers and have set retirement ages for other things, we have no business having 75+ year olds running the American government.
I agree, but would make the age even lower. Mental acuity is one reason, but another is that I believe that those most affected by policy, should be directing it.

Retire and let the next generation handle their business.

McConnell is now officially in the same club as Biden, Feinstein, Fetterman, Grassley and Pelosi. The questions of age and fitness won’t go away, nor will calls for his resignation.

He’s got about three and a half years left before his term expires. With that much time to go and a Democratic governor of Kentucky who could appoint an interim replacement, it’s doubtful he’ll resign from his seat. I could easily see him giving up his leadership position after the election though.

Does anyone really care about this? If he dropped dead, they’d plug in another grifter instantly. The replacement is probably chosen already.

Most of these guys accomplish nothing beyond enriching themselves. Their comings and goings have no effect in the real world.
Cornyn, Thune, and Barrasso are frequently mentioned as possible successors to the leadership position if McConnell decides to step down.

I agree if your comment includes democrats and republicans.

Maybe we should set a maximum age for holding federal elected positions, to include the president.

What about Biden? Trump? Hillary? etc etc

Yup them too.

As far as I'm concerned no person over the mandatory retirement age should be in any position in federal government. President, VP, senator, representative, judges - kit and kaboodle.

They are too far separated from the younger generations and their "prime" was two generations - or more, heh - ago.

As to Biden V Trump, even given the above I'll vote for the older Biden.

Reading. It's a thing.

Reading. It's a thing.
I agree on the age limit, but I also agree on term limits. Senators and representatives were never meant to be life time careers. I am torn though on whether 12 years is the right amount. That is 6 terms as a representative and 2 terms as a senator.

By the way, my comment was made after only reading her first comment. Indeed she answered my question in a later post. My apologies for not reading the entire topic before posting.

Quoted fro posterity and stupidity.

Does anyone else notice a “certain” person missing from BabyBoobs “club”?? (Hint: The person is a rapey, racist, misogynistic, corrupt orange traitor who has said and done more ignorant, crazy, and dangerous things than all those listed by BabyBoobs combined).

BabyBoobs continues with the lying and gaslighting.

McConnell is being a drag on Trump, so it would be quite possible to have someone worse in that position than McConnell.

^^^^. Less likely with Beshear calling the shots on his replacement. Though who knows who would get the top spot.

If Cameron manages to unseat Beshear, the entire world is screwed.

So Mitch has had three serious episodes this year! Whew! Behold the power of prayer!

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict he will be dead by Christmas.

It might come as a surprise to you, but the officeholders I mentioned are, well, officeholders. Trump was ousted in 2020. If he gets re-elected to the presidency in 2024, his age and man tits will definitely qualify him for the club.
