The accepted medical treatments for severe gender dysphoria are therapy, hormones, and cosmetic surgery. Therapy by itself is frequently insufficient.

I’ve never railed about doctors or therapists being paid for their services. However I do think all medical care should be publicly funded.

Doctors are certainly capable of making mistakes, which is why it’s so important to self-advocate. The doctor has more technical knowledge, but the patient knows their own body.

That’s why serious medical decisions like abortion and gender transition should be made in consultation between the patient and their doctor.
