So, I'm posting this for anyone who'd like to share and/or talk about their favorite kink/fetish/category/theme of erotica

Years back I used to read a LOT among the Erotic Couplings, Group Sex, BDSM, NonHuman and Sci-Fi/Fantasy categories. Now I tend to peruse more than read, and I've also spent some time in the I/T, Loving Wives and NC/R categories in the last few months, which is honestly kind of bizarre for me--but I've found some gems among those categories. Getting specific, Daddy Dom, Breeding and Edging kinks never fail me. I'm also a sucker for sugar-sweet Romances. I've got a list of favorite authors I tail regularly when I have time to read. I've also got a list of bookmarks about a mile long of suggested material from reading friends onsite.

As a writer, my artistic vision is across the board, and I'm slowly working on building a repertoire here on Literotica after being drawn back by fans a few months back. I'll write nearly anything and everything, if I'm feeling inspired. I write for myself first and foremost, and to entertain secondly.

Sure, it's a romantic way of saying, a younger person with an older person.
I grew up with a hot older woman next door who was as sweet as can be. Oh, the fantasies.

A large age gap between the protagonists - one older, usually more experienced, the other younger.

The Mature category (obviously) is where they're mostly found. Generally speaking, the stories tend towards long, intimate stories, and the readers are very generous and receptive. It's a favourite category of mine, with several of my highest rated and most commented on stories there. It's a bit of a sub-set of Romance, but can be a little less HEA (happy ever after).

To answer your OP question, my writing tends to wander around a lot - at last count, I've got stories in seventeen Lit categories. So I'm not kink specific, more eclectic.

For example, what's sex like for a woman with a broken spine, and the able-bodied man who falls for her?; can an alien angel on Titan get it on with a female astronaut (yes); can a species have men who live on land, who transmute into the female of the species who live in water? (again, yes); and my favourite off the wall idea, can a spider in a top hat get it on with a moth in a silver blue dress? Obviously, yes.

This. I'm interested in stories about how sex interacts with the rest of the person, and the complications that ensue.

I like a wide variety of kinky flavors. Some of the categories I tend to revert to multiple times include voyeurism, exhibitionism, hot wives, age difference, power exchange.

I like things to have a kinky, subversive edge. But erotica tastes are not limited by or wholly determined by my real-life sexual interests. I like to explore things in writing that I have no experience with and no immediate plans to try.

A general theme of erotica I enjoy reading and writing is conflict, usually in the form of a) conflict with societal expectations, b) internal conflict--characters wanting to do something but feeling conflicted about it, or c) interpersonal conflict -- when two characters have conflicting feelings about something.

My erotica is usually positive and kink-affirming. I usually write about characters who push their limits, sexually, and find it an affirming, positive experience.

I prefer long stories with fleshed-out characters and interesting plots. Among sexual kinks, femdom is something that stands out, but not all flavors of it. I prefer stories where seduction is a prominent motif. Stories that begin with already-defined dynamics and relations and do not noticeably evolve hold little interest for me, no matter what the kinks are.

Someone who thinks the way I do. I agree. I think there is a tendency at Literotica, even among some of the better writers, to overdo the melodramatic background, as though it gives the story more weight. To me, it doesn't. This tendency is especially true in dialogue. Dialogue should be succinct and to the point. There should only be as much dialogue as needed to establish the background for the erotic story, and no more. But this is part of what I mean when I say I like sex stories rather than stories with sex. I want the focus to be on a sexual encounter or experience, with everything else helping to build up to it in a fun way, as opposed to a story about a man's long journey back from despair because of a broken life where he happens to have lots of sex with the women in the neighborhood along the way toward his redemption. Stories of this latter type are very popular and do well at Literotica, but they're not for me.

But like others above I find what sets really good stories apart is the emotional and mental component.

I really need people to care about each other in some way, even if that's not expressed in a very nice way. "I'm going to cane him bloody because he's a worthless worm who deserves no better than to suffer for my pleasure"---blech. "I'm going to cane him bloody because he needs to knows that he's a worthless worm etc"---very different.

And I like hearing what they think about what's going on. I'm a sucker for the "I didn't know I liked this, I shouldn't like this, surely he/she won't like this" kind of plot.

I like the way these tales can give an in depth glance into every character in society.
And I like the story told from either perspective, first person or third.
