To be fair, this is said every election and yet to be done. Neither party actually cuts budgets, they cut spending increases and call it savings. A lot of small balls in Washington.

A "We need to clean house in Washington" thread from the chump who voted for a criminal at least two times doesn't hold much weight.
Or! As evidenced with the Biden crime family, the most protected crime syndicate in history.

What the graph shows is reality.

Let's start with the fact that congress, not the president, controls the purse strings.

The first big jump we see is in 2008, that was the sub-prime bailout bill passed by congress in Dec. of 2008 after Obama had won re-election but Bush was still president. Both Bush and Obama supported passage of the bill and the democrats controlled congress. What is notable is that after that crisis had passed is the fact that spending remained largely level bearing witness to the old Reagan adage that, "government programs are the closest you'll come to life ever lasting."

The next big jump we see is in 2018 with all the spending done in response to the Wuhan Flu crisis. Once again Trump was on his way out and Biden was coming in and the democrats controlled congress.

Without radical surgery I don't expect to see the spending coming down anytime soon. All of the sub-prime programs are still in place and I expect the Wuhan Flu programs to remain in place without said surgery. There is a glimmer of hope in that the new congress is going to return to the regular budget process as opposed to bull shit omnibus spending bills but I'm not holding my breath.

What the graph shows is the year after Trump leaves, the spending drops like a stone. Perhaps it's because US spending on the fence stops. All the money that was raised by MAGA appeals was stolen by Steve Bannon and his friends, but he saved some of it and bought his pardon from the ginger grifter.

All those fence panels and shipping containers had to be paid for by you.

The bank bailout ended up bringing a profit to the government.

Lol. Look at the graph again. Notice how Brandon's first year's spending is still higher than pre covid spending.

But you go ahead and deny reality some more...

Yup, the supertanker needed to turn.
