I moved to the mountains 40 years ago. 99.5% white. In my small community the largest crime has been a streaker in front of the motel and golf course. Turned out to be a deputy sheriff...How do you think it has shaped you?

A quick Google shows property crime is 51.6....average property crime nationwide is 35.4
Adding the word "drug" to the search came up with a long list of cases.

I won't tell him violent crime in his "mountain" is also higher than national average. Funny thing about averages...it estimates the center of the distribution. That means if you are higher than national average...crime is worse than roughly 50% of the nation. How worse? Depends on how far off the average you are. I can only speak for myself...I want my community to be way below national average^^^

There are several sites that provide details on crimes in any community you choose. The data comes from what your local law enforcement reports. Pick one.
The second thing I looked at was the search for your community and their newspaper. Imagine that...
