There can be no increase in the debt ceiling without it clearing both chambers and going to the president for signature. The House has done their job and now it’s time for the Senate to do the same. Schumer has a big job ahead of him.BabyBoobs thinks Schumer has to pass the Debt Ceiling increase to accomplish his goal.

Weaker mccarthy passed a DOA bill out of the House to achieve a political “goal”.- Not with the expectation of it going any further.
Senate Majority Leader Schumer will bring a CLEAN DEBT LIMIT INCREASE to the floor of the Senate for a vote to achieve a political “goal” - Not with the expectation of it passing.

McCarthy’s goal was to bring Democrats to the table by passing a bill that increases the debt ceiling with spending constraints. There were legitimate doubts about whether or not he would succeed but he got the win. After months of stonewalling, Biden suddenly called a meeting with McCarthy, McConnell, and their Democratic leadership colleagues. Go figure.
Like all pieces of legislation, the House bill will have to be reconciled in conference with whatever comes out of the Senate. Both sides will have to agree to compromises. But first, Schumer needs 59 or 60 votes to pass a debt ceiling bill.

He got it via reps who knew the chances of that bill actually ending up being signed were nil.
Besides, this is exactly the sort of thing where when the Democrats do it, the likes of you say it's Pelosi ruling her delegation with an iron fist. When McCarthy does it, it's remarkable Republican unity, isn't it?
