I seem to have been discussing Firefly most of the evening. Any Buffy fans out there?

I actually watched Firefly first and worked my way back to Buffy. Glad I did.

Just a heads up. My boyfriend is meant to be back from his business trip soon. So if I don’t reply immediately, that’s why.

Watched them from Buffy to Angel to Firefly, as God intended. ROFLMAO.

It's an excellent arc, shame it got cut short.

I love Buffy. I started watching long ago during season two (which hooked me). Even if Joss Whedon is a terrible person, I'll always love Buffy, Angel and Firefly.

Girl, I've been a Buffy fan since the movie! And then joining a mailing list advertised on Usenet who were obsessed from the first episode. Few months later I just had to convince my housemates to let me watch the first episode when it aired on the BBC.

"Let me get this straight. Your invisible American friends in the internet say we should watch a programme based on that daft film with a blonde girl killing vampires, helped by people called 'Willow' like the dwarf, and a man called Angel, and the smarmy guy off the Gold Blend coffee adverts, and she's called Buffy?"

Some bribery later, we sat down to watch, and they promised not to take the piss too badly.
45 minutes later, they were converted!

Two years later we were getting one's mum to mail us VHS tapes of season 4/Angel s1 recorded from Sky...

For anyone in the UK or Australia, the one-man Buffy Revamped show currently touring is worth seeing (like the Reduced Shakespeare Company, only Buffy...) It's distinctly weird seeing 'Spike' actually nailing the hard London accent he was aiming for all those years, then switching perfectly into Giles!

Watched Serenity before Firefly, and then had to watch Serenity again. I still haven't watched Dollhouse, though, despite having the boxset and it having Eliza Dushku.

I didn't watch Buffy when it first came out in 1997.
I started watching it on Amazon Prime because my #AutismAngel was going through a "vampire phase" at that time, but now you gotta pay for it, so I'm done with it.
It was OK.
Didn't really have me looking forward to anything.
It did confirm that Alyson Hannigan is one of the BEST Comedy TV Actresses of our lifetime.
I did not know that Buffy is what actually gave David Boreanaz his big shot.

I loved Dollhouse, but mostly because Eliza Dushku gets to shine.

I enjoyed Angel as well..Charisma Carpenter..I really liked her character..she came a long way from Buffy. The last episode of Angel really had me hoping for it to get renewed but we know how that went...

My assessment of Eliza as an actress is colored by the two episode of BTVS where Faith and Buffy swapped bodies. SMG became Faith, body movements attitudes, vocal intonation, the whole thing. Eliza was still Eliza, just with a few Buffy one-liners. I think SMG is an underrated actress.

Charisma Carpenter is amazing...they really destroyed her in Angel. ..and yeah sad angel ended when it did ...and really how it did! Was hoping for more. 🫥

I totally agree! I read an article that she was written off of the series because she got pregnant. I met her and James Marsters at a convention years ago. Both were incredibly nice..

I think she was in one of the Expendables movies, just a small part. Yeah I do wish she did more. From what I have read, Joss was pretty mean to many people..it is a shame because the stuff he does is good. I think my favorite Buffy episode is a toss up between Hush or Once More with Feeling.

For sure Once More with Feeling and Hush are excellent choices. I have the cd of the once more with feeling sound track somewhere lol.

Id say those two are up there as favorites along with tabula rasa (where they all forget who they are) for some reason amused me. I like season six in general a lot except for seeing red. They didnt need to do spike like that.

I was firmly in the buffy/angel camp during the first part of the show and the first part of angel (fav angel episode is probably the one where he is made human and buffy comes to visit) but, by the end firmly spike/buffy. I pretend that terrible episode didnt happen and blame joss for that mess.

I love that sound track..Giles singing standing in the way..fantastic. The episode The Body..I cried the first time I saw it..that episode still chokes me up when I watch it. I liked Dopplegangland also..Willow was awesome..lol

The terrible episode (assuming it’s that terrible episode) was written by a woman and based on her experience of trying to fuck her boyfriend after he said he was breaking up with her. She said if they fucked, maybe he wouldn’t leave. She said she was pretty messed up at the time (I know the feeling).

I’m the last person to condone non-consent, but I guess two things. Buffy and Spike had this BDSM thing going on (the prime time version obviously). They didn’t seem too good at setting boundaries. Also Buffy was way the stronger of the two and so not really in any danger. Not the normal male / female dynamic.

And it sort of provided motivation for Spike seeking ensoulment. Though how did he make that decision without a soul? As I think he says in Angel, Spike chose to have a soul, Angel had it thrust upon him. Would have been better to do it some other way though, IMO.

I didnt know that about the person who wrote that so thank you. That makes sense. Honestly, the Spike/Drusilla relationship was also rhe same sort of messy dynamic. I get where it comes from(esp now), but agree wish it would have been another way.

I think thats why I was sort of Team Spike at the end (not that anyone has to be either or that you can be both) but Spike chose his redemption and he wasnt as emo about it. I think Spike was a hopeless romantic when he was alive and some part of that survived when he turned. Love sort of makes sense as his means of redemption(at least to me.)He both changes but doesnt change that much I think if that makes sense? His core Spikeness was there he just grew from that.

lol so many buffy opinions. Ive spent top much time thinking about this obviously. 🙂🙃

I’ll get flamed, I know…

Angel was a beefcake for whom moodiness was a substitute for depth. Spike was a much more realized character. And Masters a more accomplished actor.
