Trump was entitled to pay the settlement, he was even obliged to pay it. He's not being investigated for paying it.

He's being investigated for using a business account to pay his private liability. The money was for business purposes, not his private slush fund. Most of it was apparently contributed by the rubes to bolster his chances of re-election although it's arguable that disguising the payment as a legitimate business matter did increase the chance of his dumbest supporters not realising what was going on.

The news comes just hours after reports District Attorney Willis could be considering RICO, or conspiracy and racketeering charges against Trump.

I am actually sick and tired of the way people go to such great lengths to defend Trump after all this time, when his words and actions are so blatantly immoral, unchristian, self-serving and corrupt. I agree with Adrina above. I mean, sometimes I just want to shake these people and say "What the FUCK is WRONG with you?" HOW can a good person defend the things he has said and done? ESPECIALLY now, after the 2021 insurrection- how can any good patriotic American defend that shit? You can't. It's like trying to defend Hitler, or any number of corrupt self serving autocrats.
