Will someone explain to me why exactly this needs to be? Florida has a bill going through their legislature to require all bloggers who post anything about a state representative or elected official to register, divulge how much they get paid for any post they make and submit a report every month on any additional posts that mention state or local government officials. Why? I can't for the life of me think of one good reason for this.

And anyone attempting to come up with a reason consider: one of the radical rights key mark positions is the registration of gun owners. The position is that if they register their guns, the government knows where to find them when they come to take them. so doesn't that apply to bloggers too, IE; if they register, the government knows where come to arrest them if they say something that offends an elected official.

It starts at the bottom of page 5.

What a crock of shit!

It's total BS, dog-whistling for the mutts.
There's no fence around Florida and they're powerless to enforce anything blogged from Georgia or further afield. What's the definition of 'blogger' anyway? Does it include stuff posted here?

Utterly ridiculous bill that’s going nowhere. Was filed 6 days ago and it’s only supporter is the idiot who filed it.

Fascism is hard to understand for those who hate fascism

This is the so called party of "free speech" and freedom and small government that doesn't intrude into people's lives?

I agree that it's BS and going nowhere because the 1st Amendment trumps this all day every day and twice on Sundays. But I can also see that it's an attempt to pull back the curtain and reveal those who seem to be willing to anonymously fund efforts to destroy the government.

So DeSantis knows who to go after for retribution.

We found that out on Jan 6 2020.
