Chaotic Coffee Klatch (tea also available)

I have grown to accept the octopi and like them. As a child I was afraid they were gonna wrap me up with their tentacles and hold me under water til I drowned .

Tentacle porn is big around these parts
That's fair. I've just always loved nature, particularly anything in the oceans. I've had curious octopi grab my fingers and actually play with my hand, almost as though they were amusing themselves with it--probably trying to size it up to see if they could take a bite out of it, but still, it was cute!

Octopi are also scary smart. I saw one on YouTube today that could bury itself in the sand if it was frightened.

Oh you wanna talk scary-smart? Scientists did an experiment to see how smart this "large brained" octopus was. Had it in a large tank and did the same routine with its food, same time, same everything. Opened the top of the tank and container and all that where it could see what was going on. It knew what time was 'feeding time'.
Then, one day, they came in the room, and the food container was all over the floor. They went back and looked at the cameras.
Apparently, the octopus had gotten hungry. It had observed the little tab being pulled to open the tank, and the tabs on the food container, and where it was put. The hungry octopus had opened the top of his tank, crawled out of the water, across the floor to the container, opened it, ate, and crawled back up the table legs, up the corner of the tank, and back inside.

Holy. Fuck. It ain't going to be A.I. taking over the world. It'll be the cephalapods.
