Caveat: I have a respiratory infection and a mild fever, so if this sounds delirious, then sorry.

I was doing a little writing last night before I got more sick. I got to use “frenulum” in a story. I’m kinda amazed that I haven’t before. Such a lovely word for such a lovely piece of anatomy. I guess I have been with more uncut guys than average.

Now I know it’s maybe a bit exclusionary to use medical terms (I have had people complain about me using “glans” and “mons” before as well), but it’s such a nice word, it just rolls off the tongue 🤭🤭🤭.

Do you have any words you like using, despite, or maybe because, they are recherché, abstruse, recondite or arcane?

"Mounted." I love to use the word "mounted" in my stories. It means so much in my mind in establishing act and control.

I've kinda been fond of using the word "cleft" lately.

I think it stemmed from an erotic audio I listened to awhile back where the woman narrator used it in quite the sexy way. A nice little eargasm, if you will.

I do like that word as well. From Penis Dialogues

"Let me explain. We talk to our owners all the time. ALL the time. When he has his fingers around our frenulum (gawd, I love how that word sounds) we are communicating with our man."

I also have an excessive fondness for 'quim.'

It’s a nice word with a lot of connotations. I think I used that last night as well. With my FMC (not me for once, the horror!) going for cowgirl.

I seem to have developed an affinity for "coitus" in the context of a relaxed, loving, intimate joining. Not as clinical as "intercourse" nor has the bad-boy nasty energy of "fuck", nor is it a euphemism.

It’s a prettier word than its usage. In the cellar door category (with apologies to JRRT).

I used “in flagrante” last night as well. Maybe the fever set in earlier than I realized.

I also get a little thrill when I can use "la petit mort"--a little death, which is a literary allusion to orgasm.
lol i got a story sent back, because i used that phrase - either that or because my hitman would time his shots to make la petit mort - la grande mort.

No, it wasn't using that phrase that got your story sent back. That doesn't happen here. Surely you don't really believe that.

I have given up completely trying to anticipate whether a story will get accepted. I just post and wait and see. - on the bright side - two of my stories that have been queued for nearly 3 weeks have been given dates - so - progress.

Adjectives are the types of words that come to mind first, like "lambent," which I've used at least twice. I like the sound and I like what it means.

But the word choices that give me the most pleasure as a writer are verbs. I like it when I feel like I've chosen just the right verb for a particular situation. Smart verb choices are what I notice most in other writers that I like, too.

I like lambent too 🙂.

I've had a susurration, but it was outside, and raining at the time.

I've also had a few discombulateds, which for one person was a first - they checked in their dictionary then left a smiling comment.
