Is there a way to respond to a specific comment on a story?

I've gotten some really nice feedback and I'd like to respond and make sure whoever left a response sees my answer to it. Is there some way to do that other than a private message?

Replying through a comment of your own on your stories will be visible only to those readers who go back to read comments expecting a reply, which is a rarity.

This system lacks a functional, two-way communication feature between readers and authors beyond the PM's, and even that is extremely limited.

If they've commented in their account name, you can PM them, or try their Feedback. They can turn those off, so that's going to be a coin toss.

Other than that, leaving a reply in the comments trail is all you can do, but unless they wander back to the story for whatever reason, they won't see it.

It’s annoying isn’t it? I make a point of writing a comment starting @User_Name but there is no automation and no threading. You are relying on the user coming back and checking. With the frequent lag in between, it could be two days after they submitted the comment.

If someone repeatedly says nice things, I tend to PM them, or - if they aren’t on the forums - send them feedback.

It’s far from ideal really.

I've responded using their user names or email if given. Responses back are minimal. I no longer waste the time. I'll leave a response on the story and leave it at that.
