On the BDSM board we have adopted a convention to make it easier to include everyone and their preferred Dominant or submissive titles in general discussion about the dynamic:
PYL= pick your label - capitalized = some version on the D/ side of the slash

pyl = pick your label - not capitalized = some version on the /s side of the slash

I didn't say anyone *needs* or *must* have a title. Some people feel they need or want to identify themselves in this respect, others do not. The question posed was about what the difference is between Domme and Dom.
For some people, identifying themselves is as central to their self understanding as their skin color, georegion, religious or political beliefs, educational or class status, work or profession.
As always.... it's best to "be you" whatever or whoever that is. Right?

Very well put, Cas. How you identify yourself says a lot about who you are and what you're looking for. While title's aren't necessary for everyone, in a place like Lit it can help to find like-minded people with similar identities and interests.
