There are similarities. One of my sibling sets speaks both Tongan (what I mostly am) and Samoan. A few cousins of my generation are fluent in Tongan.

Only one of my cousins is fluent in Hawaiian. Maori doesn’t seem too far off and really shouldn’t be if the migration patterns are correct.

It’s all so fascinating and getting blown open by DNA research.

In chinese theres a lot of dialects and it can sound very different, to the point that people speaking certain dialects cant understand each other. But the written word is the same so they can always resort to writing things down if someone doesnt speak mandarin. But sometimes if they cant speak mandarin, they also cant read.

I don’t actually know. I only discovered my birth family 6 years ago so it’s been a culture shock
