Proving Masks Are Useless

I support mask wearing. It let's me know you'd rather be muzzled than a sovereign individual.
Do you wear seat belts and helmets when riding in cars and on motorcycles, or do you go "Freebird" like a true red-blooded American?

My immune system protects me
Do you actualize birth control methods in the same way?

RG originally quoted the "Washington Free Beacon" an online rag with opinions well to the right of Attilla the Hun and which is owned by a billionaire hedge fund guy.. The Beacon in turn quoted the Cochrane Library which produced the report in question. The Cochrane Library has somewhat limited circulation, the only government in 50 which purchases it being the State of Wyoming. I would hate to depress the undoubted progressivism of that State but the other 99.5% of the American population has ready access to and prefers the online "Medline," which serves the other 49 States and has access to vastly more data.

History and data has proven that Fauci was right the first time when he correctly said masks are not effective.
And it was perfectly okay for everybody to go to the Super Bowl.

However, he still has a lot of apologists based upon the politics of "getting Trump."

When that is your motivation, admitting that you were wrong factually is a really difficult thing to do.

I'll just posit this about masks.

The holes in them are larger than the viruses. Do they filter some of them out? Yes. Most surely, but not all.

If masks were an efficacious silver bullet in the war against airborne illnesses like the flu, they they would have empirically proven their value decades ago and the would be ubiquitous elements of our public persona during flu season (or maybe daily [who cares?]), but the fact is that they are as hit and miss as the annual formulation of the flu shot which may, or may not, target the actual flu variant of the year. I assume that we will see many variants of the Covid virus in the years to come.

If a mask makes you feel safer, or in some cases, I suspect morally superior, then by all means wear one. Nobody is arguing to de-mask you, they only ask for the dignity and right (the same one the mask wearers demand for themselves) to make decisions based upon their own research, experience and circumstance. In short, if you are convinced that your mask protects you, then you have nothing to fear from someone who has come to a differing conclusion.

Hell, with everyone and their brother delivering around here, I'll pay an additional 10% tip on my delivery orders just to avoid being in public and that's not so much fear-driven as an acknowledgement that people really have come to be assholes and I blame the internet as a means for assholes to feel normalized. I see several of these "normal" posters in the political threads. Maybe we do have too many people when crowds make you feel as anonymous as an electronic barrier.

I find it ironic that the “follow the science“ zealots who spent two years shaming other *medical professionals who challenged the science* are they themselves rejecting the science, how hypocritical.

Science has been a valuable political tool even further back than the world is flat debate.

Doctors and medical professionals agree. Good luck with your approach. And make sure to wear a mask when required to do so (or don't go to a place that requires it)

👍

Sarcasm is the best that you can do? If you read what I wrote instead of just emotively launching, I also made a prima facie case for wearing a mask.

You continue to diminish and marginalize your thought(s).

I don't care what you wrote. This topic has been beaten to death in this forum. Don't want to wear a mask then don't wear one. I haven't work one in well over a year.

And my comment wasn't sarcastic at all.

Then why do you stoop so low as to flagellate a deceased equine?

Just set the example and ignore it since no one seems to be paying attention to your antics anyway.

Maybe it's because you don't bother to read or attempt to comprehend, you just have a script that you respond to...

you've contracted covid several times due to your own stubbornness and partisan attitude. your "posit" holds as much weight as vatass's dumb ass "models."

You say this kind of shit a lot....and yet you continue to pay "attention to my antics". At which point do you recognize your own issue isn't me?

I have no issue with my posts. There are mechanisms to address them if you do. Maybe give those a try sometime.

he constantly tosses out the word "ignore" in one form or another yet never actually ignores anything. ever.

*chuckles*

So lets see, the usual suspects are all ragging on about a subject that is now passe.

Yes Faucci lied about masks at the beginning, he had no choice. The healthcare industry needed the mask, not Joe Blow on the street. They were right to lie too. Just look at all the dumbfuck Americans who went out and bought up all the toilet paper ( why TP of all things??but stupid people do stupid stuff). Can you imagine if those idiots bought surgical/N95 masks how poorly the health system would have functioned.

Get over it, Faucci lied because you all are too fucking stupid to do the right thing!!

Now lets see, I know Boomer got it, so too did AJ, pretty sure ican't and Chubby did as well. Me,I followed the guidelines, wore a mask, washed my hands, etc. Guess what, since early Jan of 2020 I have not had a cold, the flu or COVID. I'll just keep on doing that, why, because I don't like being sick with a cold, or the flu, and I assume COVID might be no fun to suffer through either.

But you all keep whining about the "masks" and make sure when you have surgery those surgeons don't use them either, because "you don't think masks work".

The thing about this thread that seems to be obvious to anyone but those to support it - is that the people craving validation of their beliefs are those who believe (in opposition to the medical community) that masks don't work.

Those of us who agree with the medical community as a whole have no issue with wearing or not wearing masks. When were required to, we do. When we are sick and don't want to get others sick, we do. Denigration of that perspective says more about you than it does about any of us.

I've never told anyone to wear a mask. At worst/best, I've referred folks to their own doctor for advice. If you want to disagree with your own doctor (or if you don't have a PCP) then you do so at your own risk and you should be realistic about that risk. Blaming others for that is ignorance and victimhood which I have no sympathy for.
